My wife and I stayed at the Gasthof post in the beginning of January. We were both dissapointed by certain members of the hotel staff who were actually quite arrogant and made us feel very uncomfortable. So much so, that we eventually moved across the street to the Arlberg hotel (which had a much more friendly and proffesional staff)

In the end we are happy that we switched to the Arlberg hotel, because it was our first time visiting Austria and our experience at the gasthof post would have left us with a very bad impression of austria, but at the end the Arlberg hotel made us go home with good memories.

My husband and I have skiied Lech/ Zurs for three years now, and went back this past March for a two week honeymoon. We normally stay in more quiet/ less crowded Zurs, however for our honeymoon I had wanted to split our time between Zurs and Lech. We stayed one week at the Thurnhers Alpenhof in Zurs and one week at The Gasthof Post in Lech, as I had always wanted to try it. We love and continue to LOVE the Thurnhers as they pamper and spoil all guests - they know everyone by name. I have to say, in comparison, the Gasthof Post was a disappointment.

We stayed in the Princes' suite - but to our disappointment, the patio that came with the suite was entirely engulfed with snow. No one had taken the time to clear it. Each day as we went down to ski, the cleaning staff would leave their mops and cleaning supplies all over the hall - it looked like we were staying in a janitor's cleaning room - not a 5* hotel.

I would say most disappointing was the service at dinner. We were used to being watched by our waiter like a hawk at the Thurnhers who fills your glass up with wine b/f you even realize you need it. At The Post you are lucky if you can get your waiter to bring you desert, as it is quite busy. Most irritating was how many noisy and ill-behaved children that would be brought down at dinner. At least at the Thurnhers they "strongly recommend" to parents to bring their children to the "kinder" dinner that is before the adult servings. The service was even worse at breakfast. God forbid you don't want the buffet - the snow will be melting b/f you get a boiled egg.

Next year we will definitely go back to the Thurnhers. This was not what I expected for a Relais & Chateau hotel.

Supurb hotel, great food. And the nicest and most helpful staff of any 5* hotel we have ever stayed in. We would certainly go back and advise anybody going to lech to stay here.

Waiters were excellent, fantastic selection of wines to complement wonderful food.

Lovely Bar, relaxing, plenty of non-guests coming in to sample the apfel torte and topfen torte in front of the fire.

Staff were very helpful, had a wonderful evening out with the other guests and the owners of the hotel,

definately the best hotel and best hotel staff i have experienced.
