The first thing my husband said when we arrived at Qdos was, "WHERE do you find these places?" We stopped in Lorne for a night last March while driving The Great Ocean Road. Lorne itself is a lovely little town, but we decided we wanted to spend a night a bit away from the town itself, and so selected Qdos after digging around on the internet. I made all the arrangements through their website and via email. Unfortunately, we stayed on a Tuesday night so the restaurant was closed and we didn't get to enjoy the included breakfast, although there was a small coffee bar in the room itself. There was only one other treehouse occupied, so it felt very remote, which was wonderful. The bed was comfortable, and we had a great night's sleep after having a nice dinner down in Lorne.
I would absolutely recommend Qdos if you want to stay out of town and enjoy a bit of the forest. It's been a while since we were there, but I think it's about a 5-10 minute drive from the center of town. After we checked out in the morning, we drove to Erskine Falls and did the hike down to the bottom, which was great.
Qdos might not be good for anyone with mobility issues as we had to haul our luggage up an uneven path to the treehouse (ours was called Tsuki) which was no problem for us, but might be for some. Also, not sure how much service is available when the restaurant is open, but for us, we were completely on our own. The owner was out of town, and he left us a message on our rented cell phone telling us that the key was taped to the door. We thought that was fine, and since we're pretty self-sufficient, we saw no problem with this and enjoyed our privacy, and in fact prefer that. Folks who are used to room service, bellhops and the like might not fare as well. Again, not sure how it is there when everything is open and in full swing.
I've included some pictures so you can see how beautiful the property is - it's really quite lovely.
