My wife & I stayed here with the intent of having a relaxing break to recharge the batteries before another busy year. We ended up leaving early - for the first time ever in our many travels.
I'll start with the positives. The room was presented as per the photos on the internet site. The layout was really functional for the size, and the bathroom (especially the corner spa) was a definite highlight. Kitchen was small but functional, with a good range of appliances & serving dishes as well as crockery & cutlery. It was mostly clean, though we found a couple of worms on the carpet in the living area and an old sock (presumably from previous guests) in the washing machine - neither major, but suggested a rushed clean.
What disappointed us relative to the website was the repeated references to "LUXURY" (in capitals) and the emphasis on serenity provided by the garden. We have stayed in many hotels and self contained accommodations and in our view this was in no way a luxury experience. It offers a lot of facilities, but overall it has the feel of a well fitted out 3-star motel rather than anything we'd equate with luxury (and the price did not reflect this). Also, whilst the garden was impressive, it was effectively a visual separation of the cottages from each other & the main residence, with only a narrow path between them all. We had expected a feeling of space with outlook over a garden; instead, the cottages are located in the owner's backyard, making it feel enclosed and somewhere we only wanted to be at night.
The living room and bedrooms also felt a bit tired. One of the couches was fraying at the edges of the cushion; the bed left us both with sore backs after each sleep, and the doona cover seemed more like a protective 'inner' than an outer cover (definitely not soft or luxurious!).
All in all, not what we were after and we would only recommend it for a very short stay.
