This motel is okay for a nights stay. We stayed here for one night on a tour on the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to Adelaide. Apollo Bay is what you can reach in one day from Melbourne if you want to see the many sights along the way. We found this motel after seeing the rooms at the nearby YHA. The YHA charge 95 AUD for a double room with shared bath. Iluka charge 100 AUD for a double room with private bath. We prefered private bath - so Iluka it was. A bit overpriced in my opinion, but Apollo Bay is an expensive tourist place.
The room was average. Nothing more... There was a small fridge in the room. The TV didn't work but tired from a days driving it didn't matter much.
Location is good. Close to the beach and on the Great Ocead Road.
Parking was free.

Stayed in Room 5 for 2 nights, right at the front during the music festival. great views of the festivities and the beach. Was noisy but it was the music festival which wound down just after midnight, so was'nt so bad. Beds were comfortable,bathroom clean, no complaints about the food downstairs, staff pretty friendly, they even made us a pizza when we got back from seeing the bands, no problem even though they were packing up to close. Would stay there again.

Stayed here during the Apollo Bay Music Festival in 2008 as we only decided to go at the last moment and had limited accommodation options. The rooms were very tacky and smelled strongly of cheap disinfectant. We had very little sleep that night because of marauding teenagers partying in the hall way between their rooms. We were subjected to loud music, drunken raving and loud vomiting noises. There is no one to complain to as the motel is only staffed during the open hours of the restaurant down stairs, When I complained to the staff in the restaurant next morning, they were very unhelpful and virtually said that I would have to put up with it as it was the festival weekend. This would have to be the worst accommodation I've ever stayed in.

I joined TripAdvisor to let people know to please NOT stay in this motel. I'm sure the woman who answered the phone knew her hotel was the only one with rooms left in the whole of Apollo Bay due to the Labor Day weekend in Victoria, so of course she proceeded to tell me that she'd so generously not charge me a 3 person room rate for the two of us, and that we could have the room for $140. I thought I'd gotten a good deal when she threw in breakfast for the two of us for another $10. I was wrong. Let's not forget the glamour of the beach view room she promised.
We arrived at the "motel" walking through the restaurant to the bar that states to 'check in here' and we were checked in by a woman who squeezed us in between waiting tables. After parking in a half fenced and muddy area around the back, our room was less than impressive. Yes the sheets and towels were clean... but to pay $140 for this room was depressing from the accomodation we'd come from in Ballarat and Melbourne.
Our 'ocean view' room was of old tea towels hanging on a makeshift clothes line (picture will follow when I get my camera back). If you peered through you could just seen the stormy beach. Barely any tea and coffee makings and they couldn't even switch the fridge on before we got there. The room stench was overpowering of those sticks you leave dipped in fragrant oil, yet there was no oil left. The host said we'd gotten the last room due to someone leaving due to family emergency... ha, besides there was a ton of room keys available when we checked in. Didn't eat dinner at the restaurant as I refused to give this place any more of our hard earned money.
The breakfast was tasty, that was one positive thing.
I would never visit Apollo Bay again without knowing I could get accomodation that wasn't the Iluka Motel. I wouldn't ever recommend this motel and should have kept driving down the Ocean Road.
