“Don't do it... Unless you're really tight on a budget...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011 via mobile

We stayed here since everything else was booked up. It's terrible... The beds screech, the walls are dirty, no blinds in our room, the fan that's installed in our room couldn't be plugged in because that cord was too short. The sheets were dirty and there were bugs in our room.

On the plus side, free rental of surf boards and boogie boards were nice and the staff was very friendly and courteous... Still though, not enough to make me come back.

“Did the job nicely!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

As this was the first time i'd bought my boyfriend to Oz, I wanted him to see the amazing beach where I have so many fantastic childhood holiday memories. Unfortuantely we arrived right smack bang in the middle of school holidays when you can't get a room for less than 3 nights under $150. We booked a double room with ensuite for $70 and have to say it did the job nicely...wasn't too noisey as it was midweek, and the staff were very friendly. As we were heading back to Brisbane in the afternoon, they let us keep the car in the carpark while we had a swim.

Only a five minute stroll to the beach, and close to the wharf as well. I noticed they also had meal options at the hotel which were very reasonably priced if you're on a budget.

Nice one Mooloolaba - you never disappoint!

“Overpriced for what you get”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

At $28 for a dorm you expect more. We were in a 4bed dorm which was clean but the bunkbeds made more noise than you can imagine, no one could sleep if you just turned over. Doors were slamming all through the night because they do not have anything to slow them down. Alot of people seem to be working on farms here so you get alot of noise at 5am. The showers were not hot and just dribbled on you.
The curfews were all at 8pm, I dont like to stay up all night every night but 8pm they stop you goin out on your balcony which is ridiculas. It is not a cheerful place to be and for a more expensive hostel i expected better facilities and service.
Only good thing is the location.

“Relaxed hostel with a good vibe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

We stayed in a private double room ensuite which was clean and cheerful (in Block B). The hostel overall was fairly quiet & very relaxed. We had a kitchen on our floor which was very handy for making tea & cooking dinner etc. There was a lovely communal area outside for chatting to other backpackers & generally lazing about. There was a free breakfast every morning (tea & toast).

The staff were very friendly & outgoing -they helped us book trips (such as Australia Zoo) and printed off bus timetables etc. The hostel also had nice little extras like free bikes & surf baords. The beach was less than 10 minutes walk & was well worth a visit or three! And to top it all off there was a 24 hour Mc Donalds right across the road :)

We had two small issues with our room - the bed was slightly uncomfortable due to a couple of broken springs (but we still slept ok) & the blind on our window was fairly worn so it didn't close fully......other than that I'd give it 4/5! Hope this helps

“Great little secret”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2011

We stayed here for 1 night on a bit of a whim, Mooloolaba is an awesome resort and this hotel is a great base for the area. The hostel was clean, good quality with free Brekkie. Location was close to the beach and shops and you can use their free surfboards and kayaks. Best thing about this hostel is the cheap Internet and the free International calls! Defo reccommed this place.
