“Hot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Good location but beware air conditioning is poor especially in hot summer. In two bedroom apartment there is NO air conditioning in second bedroom which is small and dark. In two bedroom main ensuite toilet/bathroom does not have any door or privacy. Apartments are only serviced every 7 days or on departure if less than 7. Complex is getting old and in today's market would only rate 3 star. Heated pool spa is good. Main pool uniformly deep.

Room Tip: Higher up gives better views.

“Shearwater Resort 4 out of 5 Pillows”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Shearwater Holiday Resort

The stylish 4.5-Star Shearwater Holiday Resort was the perfect place for me, my wife and 9yo daughter to stay at Caloundra. With a bird eye’s view of King’s Beach, it is not only a place to relax and let your hair down, but is conveniently located to the many attractions nearby, including a plethora of restaurants, pubs and the well designed foreshore water feature, pool, park and entertainment stage.

Our self-contained apartment was appointed with tasteful, modern and clean furnishings, which made us feel right at home as soon as we stepped in the door. The kitchen featured a spacious marble countertop and was stocked with an abundance of cookware and dishes, allowing us to cook our own meals, although we found it hard to go past the ample eateries located within a strolls distance...

The view from our balcony in the morning was stunning, as we gazed at the shimmering blue waters of King’s Beach, the sound of children playing in the surf drifting to our ears as we lazily sipped our morning coffee. What better way to start one’s day?

The Shearwater also features recreational facilities including a heated pool, spa and children’s wading pool, which I had trouble getting my daughter out of, as well as a gymnasium and games room and a well designed conference and function centre, all just a 50 meter stroll from the patrolled surf beach.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Shearwater Resort. It is a home away from home when staying on the Sunshine Coast and will leave you with a feeling of true relaxation. Well suited for a romantic get-away or to bring the whole family for a good dose of R & R, which is what we did...

We made it our base-camp from which we explored the area, including the famed 'Australia Zoo' 20 mins down the road...

My Rating: four out of five pillows.

Room Tip: I recommend 3rd story or upwards, the larger suits are great, but even the two bedroom is ample...

It is my family's last night of spending two weeks at the Shearwater Resort and we have had a wonderful time.

Pros = close to beach, ocean pool, caloundra surf life saving club and kings beach tavern, great pool on site with heated spa, fantastic day spa at bottom of building called Indulge on Kings.

Cons = felt sort for those staying on level P; this is the level of the resorts pool. The bed we had was extremely soft therefore a little uncomfy. There are two restaurants beneath the resort but both are a little expensive - suggest the surf club or tavern (a short 2 minute walk away)! At night there is also a dreadful smell from the restaurant (that adjoins the resort) that wafts up through the lifts.

Overall I would give this resort a 4 out of 5 - point lost for uncomfy bed and smell from restaurant wafting through foyer and into the lifts.

“Noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We stayed in a studio apartment for 2 nights. Next door was a family and all we could hear were the sounds of kids tantrums. Made our little escape not so pleasant

“you will not be dissapointed”

My husband & i stayed at Shearwater about a year ago now & both thought it was absolutely beautiful & definately worth the price. The first thing that appealed to us was the fact that we walked in off the street & got a room no worries, the service was exceptional & we were very suprised by the reasonable price especially once we seen how nice the room was (Definately) 4.5star. We have stayed in many other 4.5star resorts in the past & this is definatley one of the nicer one's. We loved the fact that the beach was right there if you want to go for a swim or just a nice stroll along the walkway & there are plenty of lovely places to eat nearby. It is one of those places where u know u are on holiday as soon as you get there, especially when you walk out on that balcony & see the gorgeous view. We stayed there for 3 nights & in that time there honestly was not 1 thing i could find to fault this place for, we were so impressed that we have already planned our next holiday there. I could go on & on about how nice it is but i do reccommend that you go & see for yourself you definately won't be dissapointed. I think that places like this really need to be appreciated because it can be hard to find decent accommodation for a reasonable price theses days & this place is one of vey few.
