“A peaceful, luxury, boating, kayaking, walkers haven not far from Sydney.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2011

We just had a wonderful two nights 250kms north of Sydney in the village of Tea Gardens specificaly to do some kayaking away from our busy Sydney life. We found a quiet village atmosphere with a friendly Tourist Centre, cafes, restaurents, full hiring facilities for cruiser, houseboat and kayak hire, (find Larry) the ocean beach and bush walking is within easy driving distance too.
The Boathouse is across the road from the river which had easy access for our boats on an intermediate tide. One must understand the river tides in that, while the tide will be running out from the top of the river the next high tide will be running in at the mouth!
Also the banks are muddy near the village at low tide.
The Mangement (Stuart) went far and beyond his roll checking to see if we had arrived back from our planned day out on the river.
He realised we had been caught in an horrific thunderstorm with very heavy rain and he came to the waters edge to see if we were safely back. We really.
We usually let someone know where we are going if away from suburbia.
We willl go back to enjoy again the fresh juicy oysters on our patio overlooking the great lap pool to river beyond as the velvet nights falls.
Our apartment was spacious and well equipped for full self catering if one wished with a good sized patio for guests to join us.
A boaters haven or for 'taking a rest' we reccomend The Boathouse, put you car and boats in the locked area and forget the world outside to refresh youselves!! Edna and Jim.

“Beautiful Place To Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

I was unsure of what to expect when i opened the door of our 2 bedroom apartment, but what i found was something very good, as we were walking past all the rooms that were looking out over the pool we saw many fancy entrys and were slightly dissapointed by our standard wooden door without the breeze door, but the awesome view we got instead more than made up for it. We stayed in room 211, which was well kept, with a full bookshelf of good reads, and board games. Beautiful kitchen (although we never really used it) nice staff, the price of a room (approx $310) per night was a bit expensive, but isnt everything this time of year? We took our boat, which we could have put in the secure parking, but managed to get a great park right outside our apartment, and there was even a hose out the back of the resort to wash it down! Perfect for familys that prefer a slightly more relaxed holiday because tea gardens isnt exactly a 24/7 society, most shops and restaurants are closed by 9:30, there are many great restaurants within walking distance though. Great Stay, wish we were still there.

“Definitely not a 4.5 star resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2010

We stayed here in December 2010 before Christmas in a one bedroom apartment.
The grounds and reception are well kept and modern, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the rooms. The rooms need a good scrub, a paint and recarpet. There is no attention to detail and the rooms feel very lived in.
The sofa in the loungeroom is stained and saggy. The kitchen sink is stained and had ring marks in it from the last guests. The soap holder in the shower had soap residue in it from the last guests, the refrigerator needs a good clean out.
The walls are very battered and marked up and the windows were filthy. The vents in the airconditioners have mould and dust built up on them.
All in all I would rate it more a 3.5 star than a 4.5 star.
Very disappointing.

“Stunning rooms and great relaxing location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

Right from the time we arrived at Oaks Boathouse the service was outstanding nothing was to much trouble, our room was ready clean and the service's in the room where all of high quality.
The location was great just a short work to restaurants, shops and the ferry to Nelson Bay.
The views from our room where relaxing as well as spectacular, the secure under cover car parking made it an easy walk to the lift.
Just a short drive to beuatiful sandy beach's and a golf course give us plenty to do durning the day.
The complex is very quite and well controlled my managemnet, the lap and sand pool where great.

“Beautiful accommodation in a great location”

Our accommodaton was fantastic, everything was very clean and our 3 bedroom apartment was perfect. My sister and her two young children (aged 4 & 2) came with us for a week. We all loved the pool - it was great having the smaller pool with the mini beach for the kids. The Boathouse is in a great location - close to the cafes and the ferry to Nelsons Bay. The service was exceptional - nothing was a problem. The undercover security parking meant that we didn't have to worry about our car and the luggage carts were a life saver. My 4 year old niece is still talking about her holiday to Tea Gardens and is saving up so she can go back!
