We are on a three month holiday in Australia, and have stayed in many different types of accomodation which we have researched and booked before setting off in October. It is always exciting when you first arrive as you have an expectation of what it will be like, but you can never be sure. When we headed off the main road and travelled for 6km through a National Park to what is a remote spot virtually on a cliff top in a place called South West Rocks on our way to Sydney we really did not know what we were letting ourselves in for. A Lighthousekeepers Cottage (could be anything) but it wasn't cheap at $250 AUD per night so we thought it can't be that bad surely?. We need not not have worried. The accomodation in a recently refurbished cottage including a four poster bed in the room we stayed in was wonderful. The views are amazing, and if you like wildlife it is there in abundance. Pat the proprietor looked after us personally, and his friendliness efficiency, and service was first class, and if you want to get married there which I believe would be magical, his wife Wendy can perform the ceremony. If you are in the area, and looking to stay somewhere memorable then do stay at the Smokey Cape Lighthouse, you won't be disappointed.
