A should have relied on Trip Advisor! Unfortunately I read the reviews after I booked. I was expecting a heritage experience and was prepared for the fact that the hotel was old and historic. What I wasn't prepared for was the old and historic heating. I dont think the temperature in our room got anywhere near 17 c during the whole weekend, not even an electric blanket. Consequently our on suite was cold enough to make your breath steam, no heater there either.
A lot of the facilities are shut despite what the website says. There is no cafe and you cant get anything to eat in any area of the hotel other than the dining room before 5.30pm, so our thoughts of snuggling up by the fire with a book and a drink went out the window. The fire was there, thank goodness, as it was too cold to stay in our room. The spa is closed also.
If you are an Advantage Plus card holder for the Accor group be warned you can only use your card at dinner and even then it is a restricted menu. I have to say though the food was very good.
Overall it was disappointing, the hotel is old and lovely but does not welcome any visitors other than guests of the hotel. It is in sore need of some serious re furbishment. The rooms are small (OK it is heritage) but the furnishings are tired and worn. The heating definately needs some attention, the mountain wind whistles through the gaps in the windows.
