We decided on Oasis after reading many reviews of hotels and apartments from Cairns to Port Douglas on Tripadvisor.
Firstly we decided on Palm Cove for its central location between Cairns and Port Douglas, close proximity to Clifton Beach Shopping Centre and also because it's away from the "ra-ra" of Cairns.
Cairns is a big place with 160,000 people living there.
We stayed for 12 nights. 2 adults and 2 teenagers.
I can confirm that the managers John and Della are fantastic, very helpful.
There apartments are positioned amongst the tropical gardens (which John keeps very tidy) in 3 blocks and also 3 floors high. There’s not no lift so if you cop the 3rd floor then lugging the shopping wup there will keep you fit.
Nice BBQ at the poolside also but watch the slippery deck...wow.
Can I just mention here that we have stayed in several apartments over the years for 7 nights or more and this was the first time our bed linen was changed during our stay!
We were shocked because we had become used to commitments made in writing that this would be done but never happened. So thankyou Oasis!
The rooms were well appointed and spacious, with the kitchen being one of the best fitted out for utensils and even a good quality non-stick frying pan with a heavy base. Not the usual $25 over used pan!
The other reason we decided on Oasis was because of the swimming pool, wow its very nice.
Private, large and beautifully set in a tropical garden. With swimming at the beach being too risky with stingers the pool is the best option.
Life saver and swimming net are at Palm Cove but it's not worth the risk. get stung and you score yourself a ambulance ride.
Having said that we didn’t regret travelling in January, fortunately the full on wet had been delayed but we actually found the experience of a mild start to the wet and interesting experience and would do it again.
Tanks tops and boardies are the ticket and plenty of fluid.
After being told the risk of being stung out on the reef was remote to our surprise everyone including the crew all wore stinger suits. It didn’t seem to be a problem and I would recommend Passions of Paradise reef tour.
There is plenty to see and do if you get a hire car, 7 nights would be pushing it you need 10 days to cover FNQ.
