The old Guatapanal has been bought by a new owner, was refurbished, and has a new staff and philosophy.

The Guatapanal was always set on a gorgeous spot near las Terrenas, in the Dominican Republic. Now the place has been renamed the "Viva Wyndham Samaná" Resort, and it is one of the nicest places to visit in the Caribbean.

A fantastic beach, friendly staff, excellent staff, and an atmosphere that is so relaxing that you feel like a totally different person after 48 hours there.

We loved it and just sent a whole group of our friends, who just called to rave about the place. Viva Wyndham Samaná, the former "Guatapanal", is a wonderful place to stay.

We travel frequently to Las Terrenas and love the area. On our last trip we found out about Guatapanal and attempted to visit the hotel for a tour to see if it would be a nice place to stay or refer friends traveling to the area, unfortunately we were not allowed to even go past the gate and after speaking to a very rude receptionist over the telephone and nicely explaining that we just wanted to take a look, she refused to let us in and told us to try again in a few days. The other couple resorts that we visited were very friendly and gave us a very nice tour of their facilities.
