We arrived on Friday night on February 18th to be precise. A group of 10 travelers comprised of Americans, Puerto Ricans, and local Dominicans. After several hours of an exhausting drive we looked forward to good food, nice place to stay and to soak in the "samana experience.
Upon seeing my room for the first time there was feces in the bathroom, no towels and an overall dirty room. I returned to the front desk to ask if they can change my room and they said no, so I asked if they can at least send someone to clean the room. When I got to my room they had cleaned it and left no towels. When my two year old daughter climbed on her bed the whole bed collapsed and she fell head first to the floor, I called frantically for them to bring me ice and it took them 20 minutes to get there. Finally they changed my room and once again I had to ask for towels.
Then we go for dinner, to put it bluntly we asked the service if something had happened to the chef and did they have one of the security guards to cook the meal in his place. I think my two year old daughter still dazed from her fall from the bed could have done a better job vooking. The meat was a rough as the service, forget about using a knife to cut it. One of our group members called it FATAL in spanish and proceeded to get a plate of bread and butter for his all inclusive dinner experience.
The next morning we wake up and our group leader spoke to the check in to explain that the group was not happy with the food, the beds and the rooms and we wanted to cancel our next nights stay. They agreed to return the one night that WE WERE NOT GOING TO BE THERE. I however wanted to be reimbursed for the night of stay that included bodily harm to my two year old daughter due to there negligence. The bed she fell off collapsed in the middle and was made, so that leads me to believe that they had prior knowledge that the bed was not in suitable shape. When I asked for my nights stay to reimbursed they said NO, and called me liar to my face telling me that my two year old daughter who weighs 22 pounds broke the bed by jumping on it. I proceeded to tell them that if that was the case how can the bed support my wife and myself who between the both of us weigh over three hundred pounds.
However that was not the case and the rude lady continued to call me a liar and blame my daughter, after several minutes of arguing she finally got the owner. He came and called a liar and told me that my daughter broke the bed in public, instead of pulling me aside to discuss the matter quietly in his office. After being insulted publicly in two languages my patience was worn thin and I proceeded to cause start arguing vociferously back in causing a scene in front of his guests. Finally the owner agreed to reimburse me the previous night of stay for my daughter's injury to her head.
Overall the whole group ended up leaving due to various reasons that I am sure will be posted along with my comments that span from the following.
1) Poor Food
2) Uncomfortable and faulty beds
3) Lack of Premium Alchohol avaiability in the all inclusive package
4) Rude Staff
The clientele there mostly spoke Italian which led me to believe that the owner got them from his home town in Italy and were all friends or acquaintences of his or his extended family. That is the only way I can fathom that someone would travel so far for a sub-standard resort. I assured him that myself and my travel partners would do our best to make sure that Americans, Puerto Ricans, and local Dominicans here our review and he better continue convincing his distant relatives to frequent his establishment.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review
