There are a few moments left to enjoy Las Cayenas, before lovely Marie Antoinette retires. We spent a heaven-sent four days here and we feel blessed to have seen this Old World hotel at its peak before the commercialized eurochaos of Las Terrenas engulfs it. Book now!!! Las Terrenas is a wonderful place to vacation, with fabulous food and as much excitement or quiet as you want, and lovely miles and miles of beaches. It is great to see it now before the area develops more touristically. The restaurant in front of Las cayenas, called the Moorea Bar, has wonderful fresh seafood expertly prepared, and friendly staff. French, Spanish, English, German and Taino spoken.

Marie Antoinette, the Proprietresse will take good care of you at this out of the way retreat among the coconut palms.

Only a few yards from the beautiful beach where there are sunbeds for the hotels guests, you can relax and while away the hours in peace and relaxation.

The rooms are comfortable, hot water is always available and only a ceiling fan is necessary at night for cooling you.

The breakfast is great and is included in the rate, for example: 2 scrambled eggs with ham, toast, jam, honey, a fruit plate of melon, papaya, pineapple, bananas and cantaloupe. Delicious coffee with cream and an orange, lemon, or grapefruit juice.

There is plenty of helpful information for the great local tours: whale watching, horseback riding to the waterfalls, boat tours of the Los Haitises National Park.

Come to a piece of paradise, before Los Terrenas is ruined by mega development. Still, this place is a great find, I fear it may all be lost in a few years so enjoy it while you can

My wife and I have been to Las Terranas 12 times and we keep going back. The Las Cayanas Hotel Owned & Operated by Marie is the best and least expensive hotel in Las Terranas. This is by far the greatest place on God's earth. This is the place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of regular vacation places. There is very little night life here but you can find it you if so desire. We are not night life people. The days are extremely hot and the nights are also hot with a slight breeze from the ocean. The beaches are beautiful and the food is great. Marie's hotel is like a bed & breakfast with all of the ammenities of a larger hotel but remember thereare no air conditioners. There are, however, ceiling fans which keeps the rooms cool at nights. TV is basically non existant unless you can understand French. But we do not mind at all. This place is not yet commericalized thank God. There are no big hotels to ruin the beauty of the area. All types of food can be found here and the water is bottled. Language is no problem if you stay within the confines of the town. We would love to retire here, God willing, in a few more years. A traditional hotel set back, but with full view of beach and ocean. Palm trees, large veranda reminiscent of "Out of Africa." Not a modern place, no phones in rooms. Quiet, peaceful, friendly. Nice breakfast served on veranda. Balconies. Solar electric and hot water used, which is eco-wise although water flow at shower not great, but adequate. Onsite, an Italian-run restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. Lounge chairs at beach. The proprietress pays great attention to detail. I was very happy here.
