“Great Little Piece of Paridise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

This was a great little Bed and Breakfast. My husband and I stayed there while our 8 other family members stayed at Grand Bahia on the other side of town. This was a great place for your money. You have to understand about Las Terrenas when rating this B & B. As far as it goes, this is a great little place. Las Terrenas is very poor and run down, but Hotel La Tortuga is very well kept! There are 10 rooms and they are nice and everything is kept very clean. They would come and clean our room everyday while we were eating breakfast. The breakfast is a wonderful little set up of fresh fruit, eggs, toast and great juice (the passion fruit was extraordinary!!!!). There is a guard out front at night to let you in (we rented a car). It is right down from the beach and right close to town. The La Salsa Restaurant is great for late night Pizza! We stayed here for the cost savings and the idea of being right in the middle of all the action, and this was a great choice!

Room Tip: Tip: Save your toast that you don't eat from Breakfast and give it to all the hungry dogs!

“Excellent hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

I stayed in "La Tortuga" for 3 nights in December 2011, and it was a great experience. The staff is very friendly, and the price is not too high. The owners of this hotel also own a restaurant called "La Salsa" which is by the beach, a good place to have lunch and dinner. I really recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The hotel is close to the beach... a 5 minutes walk...It's worth it.

“A great place to stay in Las Terrenas”

I stayed at La Tortuga in December of 2011 for four nights and it was excellent. A great value. Rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is friendly and responsive. The rooms are a little spartan (no TV, radios or clocks) which was just fine by me. There is a large screen TV with cable under the main terrace, however, if you care to indulge your TV fix.

The hotel owners, a lovely European couple, live on-site and attend to every detail. It really felt like a home away from home. The pool and garden are just lovely. I could spend hours under the terrace just reading and whiling away an afternoon. Breakfast is complimentary and includes fresh orange juice, fruit, eggs, toast and jam. A really terrific value.

The hotel is a short walk to the main beaches and small town. A great value for the location and the money. The personal service of the staff and the beautiful, understated surroundings are what really sold me. I'll be back.

This was my first time in Hotel La Tortuga after many visits to Las Terrenas.
I read teh reviews, took a look on the internet and all i can say is YOu must go there!!
Our stay was wonderfull, the place is like a little paradise. The room was so clean, so well designed. The little pool doesnt feel like a pool, its more like a spring!

We felt very secure at the place. They take care of every little details in the room, the place, the breakfast.
One of the thing we most enjoyed was the breakfast. The ladies were so kind and helpful. Ufff Whole Bread was sooo good, the scrambled eggs, too!

Definitely, we will go back, again and again and again!
Mauricio and the staff provided us amazing services. We salute you!

Room Tip: Take with you a repellent, because is a beach town you ll meet some mosquitos!

“Lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

4 minute walk to the restaurant strip, stores, and beach. Excellent continental breakfast. The owner helped us book our day trips and matched us with excellent guides that he knew personally and the day trips were discounted. I felt very safe while there. There was also gated secure parking.
