“A Hostel that got a Home - after getting stuck in Kathrin with a sick bf and a broken car!”

After travelling through Australia for 4 month we got stuck in kathrin with a broken car and my boyfriend got very sick. Therefore we had to find a place where he could stay with his 40degrees of temperature.
This is how we came to the Palm Court Hostel. We were very lucky to get the last doubleroom (rest fully outbooked) which had a bathroom, aircondition, fridge and a little kitchen with really everything you could need. The shops are in a very short walking distance so i could buy all the medicamentations without needing the car.
The staff was very very nice. They asked if I could need any help, with going to the doctor, or just someone to talk. They even offered me a long term deal (which is much cheaper - just ask in the beginning) after it came out that my bf won't be fine again after 3 days. And Sam the Manager even found some payed jobs for me with which I was able to pay the rent, as we still weren't able to move on.
So I can really say that the stuff is very very nice and helpfull, and helps you with everything they can. (without looking at the time!). They take car that everybody is well and fine and sam the manager is really something like a "housemother" who cares for EVERYthong and EVERYone and will help you with any trouble.

So beside of the terrible start of this kathrin stay, I found a new home in the Palmscourt hostel with stuff that really cares for your needs.
so i woudl definitely sray there again. It's just quite hart to find sth during the mango season.

stayed in the hostel for 10 days.

“Good Hostel”

I stayed here for 3 moths in a double room, the new management did a good job.
you have your own bathroom, frigde, television. And the rooms are cleaned every week.
Tobad the old reviews are so bad.
for all the people that dont like bugs, go to another country!!
The staff is really nice, they are very intrested and even help you out when you need something.
the new manager found heaps of jobs for a lot of backpackers.
the swimmingpool is not so big but it's clean.
the kichen is a bit small and deu to a lot of people stealing the stuff from the kichen a bit empty!! but everything works!!
So i love this hostel it's been my house for 3 months..
I'm going to miss it!!!

Room Tip: does not really matter all rooms are pretty good to sleep in. The rooms are pretty much sound proof

“Management has changed, everything is good”

The older reviews are really bad. But the newer ones are good. This is thanks to a new management. I have stayed there for more than 4 weeks and it was an amazing place. The new management put a lot of effort in it to make it a better place and they were quite successful. It have good equipped double rooms and 3 and 4 bedrooms. Often with a fridge and a TV (probably now all of them). The pool area is very nice (but the water was pretty cold) and the kitchen is well equipped as well. The staff is friendly and they help were they can. If it is their duty or not. (one helped me to find a job). One more thing, Katherine in the dry season is a very good place to find a job. Meanwhile I worked I got 3 new job offers. Workseekers forget to go to Darwin, stay in Katherine.

“What a joke”

After traveling around a Australia for the past 6 months, this would have to be the worst place I have stayed. Nothing is clean, the staff are more concerned about facebook & sending texts. I don't mind ruffing it, but I would expect this to be hostel at least clean.

The location is great, close to the shopping center, was looking at staying a few nights, ended up staying at a local motel.

It is a shame because it would have been a great place to stay a few years ago, staff aren't interested in helping.

“Terrible”

Avoid this hotel.
The price is about 90$ for a room without air conditionner (and somehow it's better seeing the age of this machine). You share the room with many cockroaches... The reception is holding by a girl who don't care about people. For 10$ more you could have a proper room and have a good sleep ! Don't hesitate and avoid this one .
Besides, the swimming pool seems bigger on the pictures...
