What a lovely place to stay. Made so welcome and the accommodation was fantastic. Mike made us feel so welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The Edwardian house is stunning and the gardens also, a great place to have an evening drink. This B&B is situated not far from some wineries and close to Hastings and Havelock North. The home cooked breakfast was" the icing on the cake". Thank you Mike, if we return to Hawkes Bay we will be there like a flash!!! Take care.

“A beautiful house and fantastic service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012 via mobile

We had a lovely stay at Hawthorne House - it is a beautiful house that has been thoughtfully renovated, in a very pleasant rural location. Mike made us very welcome; the evening canapés and glass of wine was a nice touch, and we enjoyed a very relaxing evening in the comfortable lounge area. Mike's freshly cooked breakfast was delicious. We're looking forward to visiting again!

“A wonderful B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed for 2 nights for a spur of the moment weekend break. Hawthorne House is a beautiful Edwardian Villa with 4/5 double rooms. Mike, the owner, is very friendly, welcoming (lovely afternoon tea on arrival)and helpful. He makes sure that you have everything you need and helps with suggestions for dining out and visiting.
Breakfasts are lovely with homemade bread and muffins as well as delicious freshly cooked eggs etc, with all the guests sharing a large table.
The villa is set in lovely gardens with a nice decking area.
While the House is not actually in a town, it is a short drive from both Hastings and Havelock North and also not far from Napier. There are also some fantastic wineries close by, which are not to be missed.
As you can tell, we loved it!

Very Nice B&B.
Helpfull and friendly host: Mike. We were offered wine and cheese when we arrived, while he gave information about dining possibilities and activities in the lovely surrounding area.
Great breakfast with homemade jam and. Nice lodge with a lot of history. Great garden where you can enjoy your wine.

“Relaxing Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Outstanding service from Mike and the perfect peaceful hideaway. Living in Hastings, just married and not wishing to travel far, yet needing time away from our home we stayed in the perfect location. We would highly recommend others to spend a night at Hawthorne House like we did. We enjoyed travelling only 5kms to our destination and being able to completely switch off in a beautiful and well hosted environment. Jane and Mark Davenport, Railway Road, Hastings
