Fabulous stay for 2 nights. Units very clean, spacious and with all ammenities, and great hosts. I stay at all sorts of hotels in many parts of the world and this was a pure delight. Parked the car on arrival and did not use it again until departure. Beautifull and tranquil yet right in the heart of Russell. I am not usually keen on walking yet walked everywhere I wanted to go. I will certainly tell all my friends and associates that this is the place to stay in Northland. Have some friends arriving from Seattle next week and will point them to the Lodge.

Just spent 5 nights at Commodore Lodge with our two year old and really relaxed and enjoyed sitting on the front balcony (sea view room) drinking our wine and watching world go by and the amazing sunset.
Great location and Russ and Gill really helpful and friendly.
Might have to visit again..

We had one of the sea view rooms and loved it. Well equipped and spacious with lovely chairs to relax in and a well equipped kitchen area for when we wanted to eat in. The location couldn't be better with restaurants and pub next door. The pub isn't noisy at all so it's vicinity wasn't an issue. In fact we enjoyed listening to the gentle live music most evenings. We were right by the pier for the trip around the bay and it was only a few minutes drive to the long (sandy) beach.

We have just spent 3 nights in Russell at the Commodore Lodge. Our booking advised no views and recent rennovations of the room (2 bedroom). However it was only 15 steps to the front of Russell - so it didnt' matter. Jill and Russell (mgs) were fabulous and very informative. We can't fault this facility - enojoyed our stay immensely. Our neighbour at the top let their son Pete (old cat) come and visit on the first night - fab - and we used the canoes and skiff's on our final morning for a paddle in the harbour. If anyone is looking for an easy stay within stones throw from the ferry terminal, boats and the water front (not to mention the BBQ, Spa and pool), then this is the place we recommend. The beds were comfortable with extra pillows and it was quiet.
