We recently had a 3 nite stay at the Russell Bay Lodge in the Bay view room and we can highly recommond this property as an excellent choice when visiting the beautiful Russell. The accomodation can be classed as a B&B only in that the hosts David and Aom, were very friendly and helpful (but unintrusive - your privacy is respected at all times) and that a generous daily breakfast basket is provided. However the apartment is completely separate from the hosts home, with an independant entry and private courtyard and breathtaking bay views just outside your front door. The apartment is newly renovated with a fully equipt kitchen, modern bathroom with a double shower, a very comfy bed and decor that creates the perfect ambience for relaxation and romance. Every detail has been thougt of including a large selection of DVD's and CD's on offer. Our stay at Russell Bay Lodge was certainly a highlight of our recent visit to NZ and I can honestly recommend this property for your next holiday in Russell - you will not be dissapointed.

“Peace and Tranquility mixed with romance”

We arrived in Russell after a drive from Auckland to be greeted by David who owns and runs the B&B with his partner Aom. He showed us to our one bedroomed suite which was absolutely beautiful. It had a fully equipped kitchen, washing mahine/dryer, microwave, hob etc. The bathroom had a jacuzzi and shower which was very spacious and spotlessly clean. The decor of the room was modern and trendy. The view from the B&B over looking Russell town and bay is stunning. David and Aom invited us upstairs to their balcony/deck area for a glass of wine and filled us in on the area and the sights. We had booked a cape reinga flight with Salt Air, but due to bad weather is was delayed. As we had no mobile phone to which we could be contacted on David took all the calls received from Salt Air for us, he was so helpful. For breakfast they provide a basket full of fruit, cereal, bread, preserves. The fridge was also stocked with juice, milk butter etc, everything you need for a continental breakfast. We had a great stay here and would definately recomend it.
