We stayed one night at the Palms, so we could attend "the Hollies" show, which was at the trafalgar centre, which was a mere 5 min walk away, very handy.
The unit we had was a ground floor studio, quite compact, but nicely presented, and well tucked away from the road, so no traffic niose, like our friends who were in an upstairs room had.
The only small thing that I thought let the complex down was the quality of toiletries were inferior standard, and as I forgot to put in my shampoo, I did use the ones provided, and it did not do great things for my hair.
But overall, We would highly recommend the Palms.

We stayed in a 1bd room - with wife and 2 yr old. We were up in Nelson for motorbike event. Great location to nelson all easy walking distance to centeral Nelson ie 30 seconds. Countdown supermarket accross the road for food and drink etc. Rooms are a great size and kept to an excellent standard.
Exterior has been kept up to date and very modern. Cant beat value for this place and location will stay here again. Staff were brillant as well all helpfull and great to chat with.
The Palms Nelson is the place to stay !!!!! (i havent been paid to say this either) Also double spa bath which was great on sunday night for my tired body.

Most motels in NZ are featureless and functional rather than "charming" or cosy. To a certain extent the Palms is like that, but to a very high standard. It's probably the most central in Nelson. You can walk to the city restaurants etc and to transport. The rooms are larger than most and have a "clean airy" feel. The propieters had a "go the extra mile" approach to service.

Despite being near a major intersection the rooms were quiet and dark. The bed and other facilities were all of top quality.

Stumbled across this place late on a sunday and glad we did. Warm welcome from the manageress who gave us the key to room 26 to take a look. It was a very pleasant room with a balcony--most upstairs rooms on that side of the motel havee a separate balcony and altho it overlooks the parking it is pleasant.
With full kitchen facilties and a Woolworth within 50 metres, it was cheap and convenient to cater. We didnt use the small pool but it looked clean and enticing. The centre of town is easily walkable and all in all we would thoroughly recommend this place--its great value for money
Only downside is $15NZ per day internet
