“No support at all! AVOID!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

We have arrived from Chch the next morning after the earthquake the 22nd Feb. In one of the hotels they had no rooms and manager contacted the Leisure Lodge for one family unit and a studio. They have confirmed availability. As soon as we arrived the receptionist letus know the price (around $200 for family and aaround 150 for studio)and it was ok with us. As soon as the manager came out and looked at us and the 3 kids she made "no" head move to the receptionist and immediately the was "no room available" to us. We are all business people in hospitality industry and we know what the "customer service" means. There is NO friendly and any other customer service in this place. Please avoid them so they probably will fix their attitude. To the owner: feel free to contact me if you think it is a not fair comment.

“Don't stay here”

On our arrival we were allocated an old, tired and depressing unit. There was minimal sunlight, dim lighting and it was clearly an inferior unit to the ones which our friends were allocated for the same price. We made a booking 6 months previously and were excited about visiting Nelson for the first time. Unfortunately, our trip was spoilt because of our stay in this inferior property. The old original units which still form part of the complex should in my opinion be demolished or discounted by 50%. Also, the people at reception need to be more helpful...what ever happened to "service with a smile"? . There is no place within the tourism industry for surly people who make it abundantly clear that they do not enjoy their work.

“Never had an amazing experience before !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

I found my daughter in Nelson after 21 years. I booked to stay at the Leisure Lodge. I thought the accommodation was great. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The rooms were tided daily, with the toiletries replaced daily too. When the manager found out i was there to rebuild my relationship with my daughter, she offered to drive me to the bar where i was meeting my daughter. What a beautiful suggestion and offer. A lovely lady ! All the staff wre great. You got fresh milk daily and tea and coffee refills to. My reunion with my daughter went well and wanted to stay longer. It was no problem. They moved a few people about and things were fine to stay ! I will go again in a flash.

“Could have been really nice...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2008

We checked into this hotel for two nights after several days spent camping, and were very pleased with our room. It was small, but immaculate and well laid out (kitchenette, bathroom etc) and was newly refurbished which was very nice also. The only thing missing was soap. We had at least a dozen shampoo sachets tucked into towels, drawers etc, but the soap had obviously been forgotten. This was quickly rectifed however.

The complex has it's own restaurant and bar which we took advantage of on our second night. The food and service was absolutely wonderful (huge meals, perfectly cooked steak), and very reasonably priced.

On that second night, we ended up with about 4 hours sleep, as a group of 6-7 teenagers had taken up residence in the room next to us, and were proceeding to get very drunk on the communal balcony. By 11:00pm they were in full swing, and very annoyed, I flicked through the hotel's information folder to see what their policy on excessive noise was. All I found was that reception closed at 10:30pm, but with no alternative contact number listed. We tried to ask them to settle down ourselves, but to no avail. My husband and I had eleven hours driving to do that day, and on four hours sleep? Not nice.

The next morning on checking out, I explained what happened to the receptionist, and that I was not prepared to pay for the second night. Her reply was that the owners were away, and she didn't have the authority to grant that request, but she would get them to contact me later on in the day (when they returned) to discuss a refund. She was very sincere and sympathetic, and I was happy with this.

However, it has been 5 days now, and I am still waiting for my phone call.

On the whole, an excellent place to stay if you have good neighbours. But if you want peace and quiet, it's probably safer to go elsewhere.

Thanks for your review.

We dont understand how soap was not in your room, as soap, shampoos, conditioners, tissues and other comforts in every room

Indeed we do appologise for the noise of younger people next to your unit. We were away at the time, and since then we have managers on-site who can respond 24x7 to such situations when they are bought to our attention.

Again we appologies for not getting back to you, and we welcome your call. We appreciate is now some time ago. Our attention has only just been bought to this site, and we will endeavour to answer every comment in the future.

“Avoid this place at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2006

Avoid this motor inn at all costs....we visited the motel 9 days before our stay to inspect the rooms and selected a new unit for a 4 night stay at $130 per night. On our arrival we were allocated an old, tired unit...badly chipped bath , mould around shower and clearly inferior to that we had booked and were told that this was the only unit available. Not true !!...someone was checked into a new unit after us..We were not offered any explanation, apology and they refused point blank to offer a reduced price. I am certain that practise is probably their normal business method because they would never be able to let the older units out at the high price.
