Photo's don't show the very small size of studio bedrooms. The queen bed took up the main living area. There was barely enough space to put a suitcase either side of the bed. No additional space. Raised this with staff, who didn't put us in a different room despite the place being largely empty most nights. Not good value for $125 a night...

A bit dissapointing by the standards of the Bella Vista chain. Rooms are tiny, not even room to put your bag down beside the bed! bathroom was half the size of the bedroom, but this was acceptably spacious. Nice and close to some nice resteraunts, and less than a $10 cab fare from the airport, but I wouldnt reccomend for those wishing to see Nelson city as its a LONG walk, realistically its a $20 cab fare into town. Virtually no road noise which is nice, but if youre downstairs you can hear the plumbing and people moving around above you! my advice would be to try and get into the Beaches across the road, much nicer for similar money.

This is a nice, new, family run hotel situated just outside of the city center, near Nelson's most popular beach. It's nothing spectacular, but there is absolutely nothing to criticise about the place either, and indeed the thoughtful inclusion of a good-sized mini fridge and a microwave in the rooms make it a particularly attractive place for weary travelers to stay. The establishment appears to be family run, and they take that little extra bit of care as a result, even showing you around the room in a very endearing manner. There is no restaurant as such (although they can deliver breaskfast things to your room the night before), but there have to be about a dozen fast food restaurants within walking distance, and there's a club with a smorgasbord next-door and a convenience store down the road.

If you want a decently priced place to stay around Nelson, then I can certainly recommend the Bella Vista.
