“Great value and friendly staff”

I got stuck in Auckland for a night as my partner missed his flight from Australia due to flight delays. I picked up this bargain hotel for next to nothing. The room was cheap, clean and close to the airport which was just what I wanted after a long day of travel. Loads of parking and airport shuttle. Can't beat it in value for money.

“Good for one night - would try another next time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I could never imagine why anyone would stay more than one night here. We stayed because it was near a concert venue down the road and we live on the other side of Auckland. We had recently stayed in a Holiday Inn Rotorua and loved it. A little tired - this huge hotel has garden grounds and a pool. The courtyard area outside our room was unkept and parts of the hotel smelt damp. Our room was fine - fairly quiet and good amenties. Good pillow selection but bed had seen better days and dipped in the middle. I dislike having only two towels in a room but when we asked - more were prompty brought to us. The breakfast buffet was not good. It wasnt the selection so much but the unkept, messy and running out of items including the food and plates ect. Bad coffee. The hot part - ie beans, eggs was luke warm.... we didnt finish our breakfast ;-(

When we checked out at 10.30am - there was a big line and one person on reception, trying to check people out and answer queries from guests on transport etc. I think there would be better options in the area.

Room Tip: If you do stay rooms backing onto inside garden/pool looked nice. Try stay upper level

“Breakfast was fantastic”

We needed a hotel that was close to the airport, had a shuttle and where we could park our car for the duration if our overseas trip. This hotel ticked ALL those boxes.
The room was quite small, but comfortable. The pillow menu is a nice touch. We had a garden room but the garden was overgrown and we couldn't actually access the pool from here. The pool was nice, the children loved it. The gym was convenient, but doesnt Open until 7am, The breakfast buffet was top quality. Latte machine was an added bonus. Children were impressed that they could have a hot chocolate with their breakfast. Good selection of food. The shuttle runs every 30mins to and from the airport. Although it is $10 return per adult, they don't charge for children. We got a deal that included 2 weeks parking at the hotel, we were away for 3 weeks and they didn't charge us extra, so this was great value.
Not flash like the holiday inns overseas, but comfortable and value for money, if you are needing a place to stay before going away overseas.

“Handy, and good value transfer hotel”

We stayed here between international flights between Australia and Niue, and found this a really good hotel. It's clean, staff attentive, and a good restaurant and super breakfast. The rooms are quiet, and overall excellent. Make use of the shuttle bus that runs between the Airport and hotel, which is as good as a taxi.

“Christmas at the Auckland Airport”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Coming home from a cruise, I had the opportunity to have two Christmas Days, one in flight from Sydney to Auckland, and another in Tahiti the next day.

For the first Christmas, I stayed near the Auckland Airport. This hotel is fairly close to the terminals. It is quiet, the rooms clean and OK, the halls a bit worn, but you could walk through the garden courtyard to and from the room, so I soend a total of maybe 4 minutes in the hallways.

I didn't like the feel of the area, with few restaurants, and even fewer open on Christmas. The hotel buffet was holiday priced, but I found a halal pizza place open a fews blocks away and had a great pizza for dinner.

The shuttle should have been free, but I was glad they had a dedicated shuttle. There are other budget choices nearby and they seemd to have in house shuttles rather than a service. Looking at other nearby places on my pizza run, I noticed the Comfort looked like a dump, the Best Western packed by locals. So look around. The HI was good, but other places are nearby and are similar.

Room Tip: I'd ask for a garden/pool view room, not an outward looking room.
