“Luxury in quiet surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We came here as part of our honeymoon trip. Because the treehouses were booked, we stayed in the Olive House. It was very spacious, but a bit worn out here and there. I think the treehouses probably have more charm. Also, no iPod stereo as advertised, which was disappointing. But the bed is amazing, and we loved the en suite tub and shower with views. I think I would tell friends to try for the treehouse suites. The meal we had the lodge was our favorite dinner in our New Zealand stay, and breakfast is a real treat--duck confit hash was outstanding. I would definitely send friends to Hapuku on a honeymoon....

Room Tip: Stay in one of the treehouses if you can

“The highlight of our stay in NZ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We visited NZ for three weeks as a 30th anniversary celebration and this was booked as our "special stay". Our three nights here exceeded our expectations. Extremely friendly and helpful staff from the moment we arrived until we were waved off from the car park - nothing was a problem and needs were met without fuss. The home baking, both in the bedroom and at breakfast, was to die for. Vegetarian meals were no problem, fuss free, and delightful. One morning we had an early start whale watching so breakfast boxes were provided. The room - fantastic views out to the mountains; coffee beans and grinder for fresh coffee; courtesy Mac's beers and organic juices; a walk-in Japanese bath...By now you probably sense that we enjoyed out stay!

“Pricey but worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Stayed a night before Christmas after a whale watching expedition. Were made to feel perfectly at home. Stayed at the first treehouse, which was very posh. The tub was decadent, the fireplace was so quaint, the shower felt like showering in the woods! The free drinks and cookies were a nice touch. We walked the frauds and were delighted at Annie the deer who ate a pear right out of my hand. We had dinner at the lodge after some complimentary drinks by the lounge fireplace. It was wonderful, delicious and leisurely. Breakfast was also delicious. This place is expensive but we will definitely be back.

“A little piece of paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012 via mobile

We stayed for 3 nights in the Tree House Korimako.

A very warm welcome from Mike. The tree house was just mind blowing. Excellent king bed, the best shower spacious with free mini bar and excellent wifi. The views are just stunning.

The pool area is great and within 10 min you are in Kaikoura.

The restaurant was amazing with a great breakfast and the dinner was delightful.

We are sad to leave tomorrow since this place is so fantastic.

A big bow to all at Hapuku lodge!

“Architecturally Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We are staying in the Family Tree House for 2 nights as part of my husband's 50th birthday. Staying here is the final destination of our trip! We have not been disappointed at all. The lodge and Tree House have lived up to all of the expectations that I had. Mark and Sheena have been very friendly and professional with nothing being too much trouble! Dinner and breakfast were among the best we have had in New Zealand, with very fussy Foodies like ourselves that is the highest accolade there is! So that said, after a day of sight seeing the stunning coastline, and seal colony ....we are off to have our last night with dinner at the lodge! Stephen, Kristopher, and Rhonda
