We decided to stay one night at the Comfort Inn on our way thru Kaikoura. The rooms are very clean and in great condition. There is a fully equipped kitchen and on demand movies. We only paid $2.00 USD for internet access--which was great value.
The inn is located off the highway as you enter Kaikoura. It was very quiet and we enjoyed our stay.

For a motel out of the town centre this offered us immaculately clean rooms and bathroom with super, modern kitchen facilites. Very good value for a two night stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Photos imply great views. Other than the garbage cans and SR1, we had no view. Hotel refused to supply breakfast which came with our booking, and would not honour the company guarantee. Considering it was only $8 less than the Intercontinental in Wellington, it is very poor value
This hotel is OK, but the "least nice" of all the places we stayed in NZ. Unfortunately it is right next to SH1 and very large semi trucks pass by at all hours. We were in room 1, the closest of all to the road, but it would seem that all the rooms would be affected. Kaikoura is a very small town and most businesses, etc. are located on one strip, and there are many other hotels to choose from that are more centrally located than this one.
