Stayed for three nights in the new block. Great views. Glass balconies gave uninterupted ocean views. Able to leave slding door open at night to hear the sea as were on second floor. Stylish accessories - flat screen tv, with modern and clean bathroom and the bed was very comfortable.. Staff friendly, particularly the housemaids. Would not hesitate to go back even at the full rate we paid.

We booked this hotel through the town's i-site who knew to ask for one of the new rooms that faced the beach. Excellent advice as we got a new room that had a 180 degree view of the Tasman Sea. The new block has stylish, clean rooms with glass balconies that face the beach. Stayed on Sunday night so got a good deal and it was quiet. Did not have breakfast tho (looked overpriced) so found a friendly cafe in the town instead.

Went to Hokitika for a birthday party.... the holiday was fully booked with a wedding and I was upgraded to beachfront room...
Check in was pain-less a dn staff were friendy and aplogizing for the lack of facility....
The room was amazing facing on to wild west coast beach... The room was modern and clean... had flat screen TV and great bathroom and a great bed...
Parking was an issue due to a wedding in the Hotel....
The resturant was closed... and cafe in the front of the Hotel was below average...
The Hotel was a bit pricey by NZ standards... and I agree with other writers recommend staying the new block for the view...

I had the misfortune of booking a weekend stay at Beachfront Hotel in Hokitika. Not only was the costs exorbitant but the room that I was given for myself and wife and two little girls(2 and 4yrs) was situated above a bar. The noise and foul language comming from the bar patrons kept us up on both Friday and Saturday night until just before 4am in the morning. Not to mention the urine and vomit that was deposited at the main entry to our block of rooms. When I complained to management I was basically fobbed off and told we were warned that it may be a bit noisy. - I accept "a bit noisy" but not until 4am in the bloody morning with bar patrons using language more suited for the gutter.

I would NEVER NEVER advise or recommend anyone to go and stay at the Beachfront Hotel in Hokitika. I am 40 years old and have travelled extensively around the world and The Beachfront Hotel in Hokitika would rate as probably the worst place I have stayed in. (This includes extensive travel through Africa - a so called third world country)
