“Luckily, my expectations were low.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

The facilities are average, at best. The staff were generally polite but unhelpful. Everything in the pool area needs maintenence and dont forget to bring your $1 coins if you enjoy using cold public spas filled with sand. The spa in our room, which we paid extra for, didn't work. Sunday morning we were woken early when unscheduled maintence requiring LOUD heavy machinery commenced in the next room. We were offered no apology or explanation by the manager when we went outside to investigate... Waking the guests- the worst sin a hotel can commit! The worst part is knowing this place is supposedly the best in town.

Room Tip: there are only 2 family rooms. Book early if you want to secure one.

“Over priced and uninterested staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2011

Calling this place a resort is stretching things rather a lot. It's a perfectly acceptable 3 star motel with a small pool & spa, it's NOT a resort.
Room was clean enough and relatively modern but there was nothing at all that was flash or particularly special. Hot water was out in my room in the evening and I was too tired to call reception about it given how long it had taken them to come to the desk when we arrived and to get us checked in. It was a warm night so a tepid shower didn't bother me too much. The stone cold shower the next morning before a 14 hour work day however was a bigger problem. When I checked out I mentioned to reception that the hot water in my room was out and she laughed and said "yeah we know". Fair enough they possibly couldn't have prevented a water heater breakdown but the response to a cold showered guest should be "yes, we're very sorry we've had problems, we'd like to offer you a discount on your stay". When I inquired about a discount she claimed that as the room was booked through a third party she couldn't provide any refund which was pretty poor. Her disinterest in customer service was something all the staff I encountered there exhibited.
Not a bad motel per se but don't expect anything flasher than your average B&W/Comfort Inn type motel.

“Nice place that is crying out for an update”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

The staff were very friendly which is always great. My room needed a bit of an update but was otherwise comfortable. I think they are getting around to updating the rooms as some of my colleagues had updated bathrooms. I used the pool area and found it to be quite relaxing. The deck chairs and umbrellas have seen better days and could do with a serious update too. The games room and the gym are a big let down. For my own safety I didn't use the gym equipment. It looking a little 'disfunctional'. Perhaps they could have some freeweights there and get in some new machines. It's not as if there isn't enough room in there. The games room needs an update. In fact, the whole building that houses this has been crying out for an upgrade for quite some time. (There really is a theme occuring here). Internet is available at a small cost but it is beyond me as to why they (or any hotel for that matter) need to charge for this and not just include it in the price. All in all, this motel is well located and does the job. I think the four stars are achieved because of the facilities provided and not the standard of them.

“The best Swan Hill has to offer - which is not much really”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2011

The Swan Hill Resort (now All Seasons not Best Western) is promoted as the city's premier 4 star venue. It's hard to believe, but a drive around other options seemed to substantiate the claim of "best" if only of a badish bunch. It claims to have undergone renovation but I suspect this is of the bedding (which at least was quality and fresh). For the remainder expect a fairly standard, courtyard style motel over two stories. It's large, but our room was a 1970s classic - facing into the courtyard carpark (noisy!), so no option to have the blind up. A tired bathroom despite the "spa suite" status. There is a "tropical" themed pool which was also tired although despite some water bugs the pool appeared extremely clean and the water was crytstal clear and fresh (if chilly!). The room wasn't cheap - infact having found a price on wotif for that night and turned up at reception, we were told that was a wotif ony price. We laughed and asked if she'd like us to book on our iphone then and there. I would classify this 3.5 star MOTEL (not a 4 star hotel!) at best, and the best of an unispiring lot.
