“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2009

Girl's w/end away - great location in terms of "footing it" round St Kilda with tram to city directly opposite apartments. Close to many great restaurants & bars, excellent shopping and even a local IGA for supplies. The room unfortunately was average... and in seroius need of a re-furb! Tired decor, bare walls and one very small tv in lounge, uncomfortable divan type couches & only one bathroom (with toilet ) which was difficult for 5 girl's! King size beds were comfy, and overall it served our purpose, but not sure I'd return.

Delta260,

Thank you so much for your feedback, it is certainly appreciated and has been taken on board.

I agree that it would be wonderful if we did have apartments that have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, but unfortunately the building was not designed in this way. I do however understand that it may require some time management and good friends for 5 people sharing a room.

As per my response from March 22 2009 we are in the middle of refurbishment of the property, and I am pleased to report that we have finished the repainting of the apartments and currently installing large flat screen TV's, and laying new carpet in all apartments.

I hope that you understand that this is a work in progress, but I would love for you to come and stay again so you can see the changes to the property

“Did The Job”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2009

Stayed here with a now ex girlfriend who comes from melbourne. The place is clean and maid service excellent.Rooms could do with modernisation though. No big TV"s,hifis etc as you get here in the UK nowadays. The WiFi was not free, again as in most UK hotels, and was actually very expensive. There is a washer and dryer in your room which was great and everything else you require for normal day to day living. The front desk staff were great and very helpful. There is a tram pick up point right opposite the front so getting into Melbourne city centre is no trouble at all,it takes you right past the shrine too, which is a lovely place to visit.Good english pub nearby too.My stay was made easy due to ex being local,so i have her to thank for that.If your expecting top quality as here in the UK with all the extras then it may not be for you,but as a place to sleep and be comfortable then the quest is fine

“Impeccable front desk service, but badly in need of a re-furb”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2009

Says it all in the title really. The staff on reception are very good and most helpful.
However the rooms are exactly the same as during our last visit in 2001. The carpets have become sticky and are stained as are the settee and chairs. The cooking facilities, which are good, are in the middle of the room, consequently any fat or spillages splatter on to the carpet. The bathroom is also a bit jaded and climbing up into the shower, which is sited above the bath is, quite frankly, dangerous.
The bedroom is good and the Queen sized bed is comfortable.
Other criticisms would include poor tv and tv options and the lack of free internet access. Also, the gym had a couple of pieces of apparatus which were out of action, from a limited number available.
Don't wish to sound too much like a "whinging Pom", but the points are constructive observations. We would have absolutely no problem staying here again if the facilities were bought up to a better standard.

Dear Stuartbuxton,

Thank you very much for your feedback regarding Quest on St Kilda Road, it is greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to let you know what we are doing at the property in response to your feedback.

We are currently also going through a refurbishment process for all apartments due to the age of the property (the property is over 10 years old), which involves the replacement of all linen/carpets/curtains, painting the apartments, replacing light fittings, installing flat screen TV’s in the lounge rooms(and in the master bedrooms of 2 Bedroom Apartments), double glazing the windows that face the atrium to reduce noise.

I am sure that you can appreciate that this is a work in progress and we are aiming to have all of the above and more completed by the end of 2009.

I hope that you would consider our property again in the future, and I would like to thank you once again for your patronage and your feedback.

Kind Regards,

Quest on St Kilda Road

“Needs a makeover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2009

As other reviews said friendly staff but noisy the way thed rooms are designed around an atrium so everything echoes badly. Maybe glass in exterior corridors. We had a 2br standard ($10 AUD cheaper than 2br deluxe). Very spacious. Surprised only 1 bathroom as often 2br will have 1br with an ensuite. Also only 1 TV in lounge so no watching TV in bed (again a lot of apartments will have TV in bedrooms and doesn't cost a lot to do this).
Shower box had no soap stand so you had to put soap on floor of tray - not exactly hygenic.
Our carpet had a huge oil stain the size of a saucer inside front door and a clearly visible burn mark from an iron's imprint on the lounge carpet so new carpet definately needed. Looks like only bed linens have been refurbished but time everything else was too. Maybe the 'deluxe' 2 br have been fully refurbished - I don't know.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2008

Due to our stay being for 5 nights we were upgraded free of charge to a 2 bed exec. apartment. Because of this our bedroom did not face the interior and we didn’t experience the noise problems others have reported.
The place is so difficult to find because there is effectively one long St Kilda Road, but the numbering starts again at 1 once you leave the city and get into the St Kilda suburb – extremely confusing and not much to explain this on the website.
The apartment was large and had everything we needed. Slightly shabbier than I had expected, but I believe some have been refurbished since our stay.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful and we loved the area it was in, easy walk to most places and very convenient for getting into the city.
Would definitely stay here again.
