Our visit here got off to a bad start before we even got there, when we contacted them before leaving the UK to arrange an airport pick-up. That's when they explained that despite our confirmed booking at an agreed price they wanted to increase the price as the Grand Prix and Swimming was on and costs had increased due to the drought. At that late stage we had no time to arrange anything else and everything was booked up anyway so reluctantly we agreed to the increased price. Our plane was delayed and the pick-up decided not to wait or return later leaving us to get a taxi at a much greater cost. We arrived late at night, irritable to say the least and we were showed to our room.
Next morning we realised two things, this was not the room we booked and it had no windows, so no natural light. We asked to be moved to our booked room and were moved without fuss the only explanation being that they had thought they were doing us a favour by upgrading us. So don't book the Victoria room if you value daylight. The rest of the stay went wihout incident but we were not impressed, the rooms could have benefitted from a dusting, the cooked breakfast was plonked in front of you, no choice or warning eg. an omelette one morning and i dislike omelettes. Little things irritated us, forgetting spoons in our room, not enough tea with breakfast, not being there when we came down for breakfast. As potential B&B owners ourselves soon, we learned much, particularly how compacency creeps in if you let it. For the price this did not live up to our expectations.
