“Great location, basic facilities - not bad.”

Me and 3 friends got a good price for staying four nights at this place, and I wasn't expecting too much, which was good because the hotel probably barely met expectations.

On arrival, we were given our room keys at reception, walked to our room, opened the door to find a shocked looking man laying on the bed. OK - mix up on the hotels part, not a good start. This made me nervous as my friends and I are a part of a band and we were on tour, so some of our gear was being stored in our rooms. However, happy to report that nothing went missing.

On the upside, free parking on site, great location (close to shops, beach), clean and not uncomfortable.

On the downside, a bit noisy due to the location, bathroom is tiny and not very well equipped and the place looks a bit dated. It actually looks very much like a motor-inn which has been converted into a hotel, which I assume it probably is.

I would still recommend this place to my friends though, if they were driving especially. Close to public transport as well as the Palais theater and the ESPY.

Room Tip: If you have a lot of luggage like we did, request a ground floor to avoid stairs.

Like you mentioned the iconic Palais theatre and the Esplanade Hotel along with many other attractions are just around the corner from the hotel.

We are very sorry to hear about the room mix-up upon your checking in. We understand first impressions count and on this occasion we have let you and ourselves down. At the time, this did prompt a rethink and a refocus by our reception team on the task at hand. This has ensured that this sort of service mistake does not re- occur.

“Great location and good for the price”

I stayed here with my boyfriend in November just for two nights. It couldnt be in a better location for getting around St Kilda and was surprisingly quiet at night since there's nightlife basically right outside the window (we had a fron facing room). We paid $110 a night from hotels.com and the extra $10 was to get a room with a double bed plus a single bed. I would highly recommend spending the small amount extra to get a bigger room as it had a day bed which was really confortable and chairs and was a lot more spacious than the other rooms seem to be so you can spread yourself around a bit more. There was paint peeling on the bathroom ceiling a little bit but that was the only thing I could complain about and it didnt bother us that much. It was very clean and I would definitely stay there again for a no frills but clean and convenient place to stay when your more interested in whats going on outside then your lavish hotel room.

Room Tip: Pay the small amout extra and get a bigger room

Your description of our spacious Cosmo Twin Room is very accurate we often get complimented on the luscious size of these rooms and the fact they can sleep up to four people. It's great to hear you were not affected by external noise; all our front facing rooms have thick double glazed windows to ensure your restful nights sleep will not be disturbed.

Your positive comments regarding the cleanliness have been shared with the housekeeping team. We endeavour to maintain a high level cleanliness throughout the property so we always enjoy hearing comments that reflect we are on the right track.

Thank you for addressing the peeling paint in the bathroom. Presentation of all areas of the hotel is a high priority for us and this has highlighted a priority for us in our preventative maintenance plan which we have in place.

“A great place to stay”

I stayed at the Cosmopolitan in august last year and was most impressed by the friendly staff who attended our every need. We decided to upgrade our room because we had believed we had booked a room with a kitchen and the staff gave us a higher standard of room without any hassle. They even told us to leave our bags and go out for the day and they moved everything for us. The only comment I would like to make as an improvement is to ensure the booking sights have the correct information regarding the booking. We were not the only guests at the time who believed they had booked a room with a kitchen to find that they didn't get one.

Great tip, for other readers to book direct! At the Cosmopolitan Hotel our reservation staff are all conversant with the different room types and facilities on offer and they are enthusiastic about tailoring the right room type to ensure guests requirements are met.

It is a concern for us that you made a reservation with a third party the room type we had reserved for you was not what you were advised on. We have many guests book through third parties and for the benefit of other guests who will continue to choose to book through than channel we need to get this rectified. “Great place to stay with free parking and it's so close to everything”

If you are looking for a budget hotel in St Kilda, this must be one of the best. I found the staff very helpful and friendly and you are only a few minutes walk to Acland Street with it's vast choice of restaurants. The free parking is a great bonus too.

What a great hotel this turned out to be. We are from Perth WA and arrived in St Kilda with no were to stay.Rang and was offered a Petite room for a reasonable price. Quite petite really but for our needs, the room was excellent value.Really clean and had all the ammentities we needed for an overnight stay.
Our requirements were an air con,comfy bed,clean bathroom and good location and we got the lot.
The room was very Petite but hey, who hangs around in the room when in St kilda.Will definetley be back to stay on our next visit.
