Initally booked in for two nights & eventually left after two weeks. Hostel was spotless & well maintained, kitchen facilities were good and Staff were very friendly and very accomodating. Great location in St Kilda and tram ride to melbourne city centre. This was a hostel with character & would definitely stay again.

We had spent 5 weeks in a campervan touring the east coast from Brisbane to Melbourne and stayed at the Olembia for 4 nights before we flew home to the UK. What a hidden gem! Very friendly staff and clean rooms. Could not fault it. Was in a great position 5 mins. to St. Kilda beach and 10 mins to the main Fitzroy Street for bars and restaurants.

Stayed at Olembia with my husband and daughter in their upstairs family room. I was extremely impressed by the cleanliness of the guest house, friendliness and helpfulness of staff and loved the communal areas. Lounge room with huge bay window and fireplace and dining room from a bygone era. The atmosphere has an effect on guests too I guess, making them cheerful, relaxed and friendly. Location is very convenient.

This place is the best hostel i stayed in in Australia.

This is the only hostel that allowed me to check in early (4 hours early).

On arrival they said that the room I had booked had people who were sleeping in it and rather than wake them up they upgraded me to a single room for no extra charge. They said that I could stay in this room for 3 nights at the 6 man dorm rate.

There is also 2 front rooms where there is a fire, comfortable couches and lots of books to read and also a television if you want to watch that.

The staff at the desk were extremely helpful in all respects. The bathrooms were shared but there were plenty of them and they were kept very clean. Also once you were in the bathroom you could lock the door and you had it to yourself.

The hostel is about 5 minutes walk from the tram stop and from the main strip in St Kilda. If you want somewhere which is in a good location, good value for money and has friendly staff stay here.
