“Perfect location but.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

A cute place, clean but a little dated. Unfortunately it doesn't have a lift so if you are on the 3rd floor it is a bit of a hike, especially with your luggage.
If you can cope with the stairs be sure to request a room at the back of the hotel if you want peace and quiet. The front rooms get all the noise, trams, motor bikes and people partying into the night.

“Not so great, but nice location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Stayed here for one night in November. Paid for just a standard room. We asked for a quiet room, not sure if we got it or not but it was in the back of the hotel behind registration. The room was VERY small, and the bathroom was pretty bad. no room to place anything, the shower was old and left a lot to be desired. It wasn't a big deal that the room was small (we were hardly in it), but it was more to do with the condition of the room. Definitely in need of repair. I still can't get over the lack of shelving/space in the bathroom and how outdated it was. I would not go back to this hotel, would not recommend. In fairness, it was in a good location in St Kilda, plenty of shops and cafes within walking distance including the beach.

Room Tip: don't go here.

“Excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

Stayed 2 nights. Found the location perfect, easy to get into the city or to walk to St Kilda attractions and restaurants. Upstairs room near the front, no view, room was on the small side but quite comfortable. No issues with noise. Bathroom was somewhat dated and I drew management attention to a plumbing issue. Could use a bench in the bathroom for toiletries, etc. Would stay again. Loved the paintings.

“Funky and fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

This hotel was the perfect antidote to the previous night's stay in a 4 star chain hotel - also in St Kilda. I had a balcony room and as I live in the inner city in Sydney, the street noise (remarkably muffled when the door was closed) didn't bother me. As I travel light, no lift also not a problem (I was on the third floor) What I loved was the fantastic fitout, the comfort of the rooms, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, and of course the bar and restaurant downstairs (Mirka). If you want to know that you are in St Kilda - this is for you. It's not for everyone - but it is for me.

Room Tip: If noise bothers you, perhaps avoid the balcony rooms - call the hotel and tell them what you like...

“Good hotel in great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

We stayed at this hotel for three nights and have no genuine concerns. Having read complaints about noise on this website before, we did not come across this at all and we found the rooms to be large, clean and well-suited for a hotel stay. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times, with the only really complaint we have is the price of internet: charging that much for a basic service in today's day and age is bad business practice.

Overall, we would stay there again, especially with all attractions of St Kilda (especially Fitzroy St) as well as a tram to Melbourne (right in front of the hotel) so close.
