“Expected more considering the "awards" the motel had won.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

I had to travel from Sydney to Adelaide for business. Too far to drive in one day, I booked this motel in advance for my first nights stay after a long drive.

The hotel advertises that it has won awards for its refurbishment, so considering the experience I'd had in other Mildura hotels (bad ones), I thought I'd give this motel a shot.

The room was neat and tidy, but very basic. Nothing really stood out as "refurb-ed" so I'd hate to think what it used to be like. My room opened up onto a common area and families had their kids out there playing and it sounded like they were in my room. The pool is also very close to the rooms, so if you want to relax after a long days travel, you may want to avoid this motel.

The air-con was sub-standard and very noisy. Limited channel choice on the TV as well.

That all said, the staff were very friendly. The water pressure in the bathroom was fantastic and the wifi was fast.

Overall, this would suit younger families, but not the solo traveller.

Hi

Thanks for your comments. Yes it is correct, we have won the award for the HMAA Most Improved Motel & Accommodation overall in Victoria and since you last stayed with us we have also won a Choice Hotels Australasia Gold Award.

This is mainly due to our extensive refurbishment to our rooms including all new bedding and furniture, new bathrooms, carpets, split system airconditioning, LCD TV's with 8 free Austar channels, WI-FI etc.

Since your trip we have even renovated the restaurant, have now got a refurbished shaded pool area, Bali Hut and landscaped gardens.

Disappointed to hear you thought the aircon was noisy as they are split systems and we havent had a noise complaint before or after regarding them. The 80cm or larger TV's have all your regular digital channels and Austar including Movies & Fox Sports.

Thanks for your kind comments on the staff.

“Nice...”

I liked the hotel.

It's located near the intersection of the two major highways in Mildura. It is a little drive to town center, but it's quick and parking wasn't an issue. The rooms were clean, looked nice, basically the equivalent of a well-maintained Choice Hotel room in the U.S. There was free WiFi here (also a plus for me) and a McD across the street. There are shops within a short drive on one of the highways, but no nearby stores that I could see.

One thing of note, much to my surprise, Mildura had some amazing restaurants. It's a town in the middle of nowhere (sort of), and it was great to find great food. I went to several places downtown on Langtree and they were all excellent (Fasta Pasta, the Thai place, a sandwich/bakery called Banjo).

Hi

Thanks for your comments & yes Mildura has plenty to offer including a variety of restaurants. Mildura is about 400kms from Adelaide and 550kms from Melbourne. Virgin, Qantas, Rex & Sharp airlines all fly here.

Thanks

“Very nice but out of town a little”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2009

The rooms were lovely but its quite a way from the main centre to restaurants and cafes (you have to drive or cab it). We had the spa room and everything was new and clean. Nice beds too.

Hi

Thanks for your review. We are about 2.8km to the ciry centre and a walk across the road to Centro Shopping Centre. A taxi is about $10 to the city centre, but we also have a popular restaurant onsite open 6 days a week.

Thanks

“WoW the review was right!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2008

Reading a previous review it said the rooms had been refurbished. They were much better than expected. Same as a modern hotel in the Sydney or Melbourne CBD. They have a very modern restaurant frequented by locals (dressed up!) so it is worth booking.

My first chioce if heading back that way.

  • Liked — Modern, clean
  • Disliked — Hmmm just need to update the pool and they are done!
