“Must surely be the best place to stay in Horsham”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2011

This was our first trip to Horsham, and while we were only stopping overnight en-route to South Australia we had allocated enough time to explore Horsham and wanted a quality base. We were very pleased we chose May Park. Although we only had a Studio Apartment the size and quality of the room exceeded our expectations. There was a large and comfortable bed, a desk area, a lounge area with a coffee table and small dining table, and a small kitchen galley in which you could certainly have prepared a basic meal. The bathroom/laundry was also roomy. The room decor was modern, fresh and clean, and the inroom bar/snack selection was very reasonably priced. Parking was adjacent to the room. While the apartments are near a relatively busy road (but NOT the main road by any means) the room had double glazed windows and blockout curtains and was very quiet. We received a very friendly greeting and lots of good advice about where to dine that night. The apartments were close to the town centre (much better located than the new Quest apartments which we noticed are on the main road and out of town), near an attractive park, and just around the corner form the Horsham Sports Club where we enjoyed a homely country-style dinner at a bargain price. We stayed in three towns during our road trip and this was by far the best experience we had. Highly recommended and so much nicer than a traditional hotel. Sadly Horsham experienced severe flooding not long after our visit, and we send our thoughts to all the residents of this charming country centre!

“Find somewhere else to stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

This hotel complex which has been upgraded and expanded within the last year style's itself as an executive apartment complex. This could only be used in the broadest sense of the word. Whilst the rooms are larger than a normal hotel room, and they do include a mini kitchen they cannot be called 'apartments'. That however is excusable if it weren't for additional hidden tariffs that suddenly appear on your bill ( a two bedroom apartment with an extra charge for having more than one person in it?) . The absolutely paper thin walls which enable you to hear not only the conversations taking place in the room next door but also on the street outside. The weird 'security' measure of turning off all the electrical appliances in the room if you leave it, so you have to re-set the bedside clock everyday and don't even think about having the washing finished by the time you get back from a stroll around the township. The 'reliable' broadband needs to be reset everyday, even if you have paid for a weeks worth, and the hosts are not available on the weekends (surely the busiest time for a country hotel) unless you call them and then have to wait 20 minutes for them to turn up. All in all a thoroughly unprofessional experience.

Panozzo, Manager at May Park Executive Apartments, responded to this review

We thank you for your booking; we appreciate your comments and the opportunity to respond to them. It saddens us to read your comments as they do not reflect the huge amount of positive feedback we regularly receive from very happy and satisfied guests therefore we believe it is important we clarify and respond directly to them.

MPEA apartments have won a number of Builders awards for architectural design layout, energy & noise efficiency building principles, materials, and construction methods.
As these apartments had only been completed shortly before your stay we were unaware of the issue regarding the electrical clock and washing machine turning off in your apartment when removing your key, this has since been rectified and we thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We understand your frustration and ours that our broadband supplier had a technical problem during your stay which has now rectified, this was out of our control due communications supplier. We find broadband to be essential and have insured we have the fastest and most reliable broadband in Horsham. Broadband was provided free for you during your stay because of this and we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.
We charge different amounts for our apartments depending on the number of guests staying (as is common place), this allows us to offer lower rates for single guests wishing to stay and not penalise them for not using both bedrooms. We completely deny that any charges were mysteriously placed on your account, all chargers were authorised by yourself or your manager and our quote and confirmation were all very clearly for one person.

Unfortunately your assumptions around our business peak periods are not accurate. The Horsham Region is predominantly a corporate market and we aim to provide all of our guests with professionalism style of service whether they are a corporate, government, business or tourist visitor to the region. We operate an onsite reception during designated hours including weekends and are on call like all hotel managers 24/7.
As I mentioned above, we are saddened by your experience and we strive to ensure all guests have a positive stay with us.

“Great place in an interesting little town.”

Very new self catering apartment. The bed was king size, which is not usual for Australia and the facilities were excellent. Not the cheapest, but Leanne Panozzo was very welcoming and provided several basics that are often missing from self catering kitchens. We were travelling from Adelaide to Melbourne and played a round of golf at the Horsham Golf Club. A real gem of a course and a great surprise. The town itself is like a provincial UK town, with a 60s flavour. It would be a great place from which to explore the Grampians.

  • Liked — Spacious, very clean and modern.
