Bendigo Art Gallery has had a couple of blockbuster costume exhibitions on in the last few years, and this is a functional base for a visit to the gallery as well as to the Bendigo city centre. Rooms are clean and comfortable, bathrooms supplied with toiletries and good quality towels. The advertised gym sauna and spa are a bit of a joke, which is disappointing-the equipment is a couple of ten year old shopping channel machines, and the spa looked grubby.

While there's nothing special about this motel, it has the advantage of being close to the Art Gallery and there are several restaurants close by. The room had a little more space than you sometimes get and the bed was comfortable. Everything was clean and there were all the usual facilities, and the price was reasonable. There’s small gym and a spa (which appeared not to be in use when we were there), as well as a guest laundry (free). However, don't expect a view - outside the rooms, all you see are the side walls!

I booked this hotel for its proximity to the Bendigo Art Gallery and the city centre, all in easy walking distance. The rooms were compact but beautifully furnished and clean. No smoke odours unlike other hotels. We had a very good sleep on the comfortable bed, and staff were friendly and informative. It was a nice touch that the room had wine glasses available and a minibar. The hotel also has a lovely sunlight breakfast room at the front.

I got a cheaper price for the accommodation by booking with the hotel directly rather than going through the discount hotel web pages.

It was a lovely motel and I am sure I will stay there again next time I need accommodation in Bendigo.

After doing my research, I decided to book Barclay on View during the Easter break for a couple of days. The location was very central - only about 500m from the fountain - perfect for what we were there for. Rooms were well appointed - quite compact but sufficient, even a mini bar - reasonably priced. Although we were on a ground floor room, I was unaware that it was a 2 story building - which can prove a little noisy at times, but generally not an issue. All in all...a positive experience. Hosts were helpful.
