This classic traditional-style country motel style of exposed interior brickwork stood out because it was spotlessly clean, conveniently located and quiet, despite being on the main road into central Bendigo.
The queen bed was comfortable with electric blankets and the heating/cooling system doesn't require a degree in engineering to operate.
Our room had a spa bath, and all the usual amenities, including hairdryer, ironing board/iron, coffee and tea facilities. A nice touch was a current TV program listing (nothing like being somewhere and not knowing what's on because you don't have the newspaper).
A cooked breakfast was included, delivered on time and generous.
Staff were helpful with directions, and ensuring that our group (arriving at different times and staying in different rooms), were advised who had arrived and who was yet to check in so that we could organise dinner (we were less impressed with the 'pub" next door) but that is not related in any way to the motel.
Complimentary access to wi-fi would be an added advantage, especially for business travellers. It's available, but at a fee. And parking is "random" so it isn't guaranteed your car will be directly in front of your room.
Also good to see was the "green" focus of the property, in terms of water conservation (they recycle the spa water) and environmentally responsible use of linen and soaps, etc. So important in areas like Bendigo.
Would certainly stay there again on future trips to Bendigo.
