“Excellent rooms & restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

I have stayed here many times and have always had a great experience. I have stayed in a variety of rooms, including studio, one bedroom and a villa. All were fantastic. The rooms are always very clean and are fitted out well. The only draw back was that the bathrooms can be very cold in winter as they are heated by the central room heater.

The restaurant is great- staffed by some lovely guys who are always helpful and friendly. Plus they also do room service if you don't want to venture out of the comfort of your room.

“Great find central to town”

We stayed at Seymours on Lydiard in the Family Suite - two adult couples and two teenagers. It was a very pleasant stay - very well layed out rooms - one seperate bedroom and the other beds in the open plan living/dinning area. Well equipped kitchen/full sized fridge and great supply of crockery and glassware - which was perfect for us as we had pre-dinner drinks in the appartment prior to the wedding we were attending later in the evening. Beds were firm but quite comfortable.
The rooms had only been built 4 years ago, but still looked very new. The bonus for us is that it was about a 5 - 10 minute walk from the wedding function in the heart of Ballarat.
It was excellent value for money.

“Nice, modern and clean but with a few flaws”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2009

I stayed in the motel in winter 2007 on a 'father son' trip. The layout of the motel is a little unusual, especially as far as the entrance/exit is concerned. We booked the suite, which had a separate bedroom, and when we got up to the room we found it very comfortable, modern, with nice facilities. Unfortunately, the first drawback was the lack of a heater in the bathroom. Ballarat is freezing in winter time, and the bathroom was very cold without any heating. That said, the bathroom was otherwise flawless. Sparkling clean, large, modern, it even had a spa bath. As far as in-room entertainment goes, the room was equipped with 2 flat screen LCD TVs in each room, but unfortunately these were a) too small, b) too high up on the wall (in the main living room), and c) incorrectly set up (i.e. the picture was full screen but it was stretched to widescreen, resulting in distortion). That said, the selection of TV channels was great. There were about 5-8 Foxtel channels, including Movie Network.
When it came time to go to bed, the next disappointment set in. In the separate bedroom, in which I was sleeping, the bed was very firm. I can't sleep on firm beds - I need a soft bed, so I did not get good quality sleep that night. Not only that, but the blinds in the room were inadequate in keeping out light. They were wooden blinds, and even when closed, there were gaps in between the blinds and around the window, which let in PLENTY of light when the sun came up in the morning, making it very difficult to sleep. Especially as there were windows on 2 of the 4 walls in the room. Curtains would suit the room much better. Also, as the room was facing the corner of two streets, there was some traffic noise as well.
The manager of the hotel was very friendly, but there was no leeway on the checkout time of 10am. Apparantly the room we were in was in high demand and the time was unable to be extended, which is fair enough.
Would I return? Unfortunately, due to the quality of sleep I got, I probably wouldn't. Which is sad, because the hotel was fine in every other way.

“Excellent”

Our family stayed in Seymours for ten days in August. It was a great experience. Wer are accommodated in the beautiful house which is part of the hotel. It was very comfortable, spacious and had excellent facilities, well equipped kitchen, flat screen tvs in all rooms etc.
The location is second to none, and we ate in the pub next door .
The staff were very helpful, and the manageress, Jennifer, did everything to make us feel at home.

“The place to stay in Ballarat !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2008

We stayed in the house which is situated next to the motel.
The house was absolutely beautiful , ample space and spotless.
We only stayed for one night but wish it could have been longer!
We ate out at the restaurant next door which was fine.
Breakfast next day was room service, which was brought to the house.
We cannot fault this motel.
The owners are very welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble.
We think they were won over by the Scottish accent !
When we visit Ballarat again we will certainly stay here.
Keep up the great work!
Best Wishes- The Tragardh/Coutts family
