My wife and I chose this motel based on its location and previous TA reviews. We based ourselves here in order to be comfortable while attending the 95th Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally. It was a good choice as it turned out.
On arrival I mentioned to Helen (proprietor) that I was a light sleeper and I'd heard that some of the rooms can be affected by traffic noise. Upon hearing that from me, and because it was still early in the afternoon, without hesitation she took back the key to room 8 and handed me room 7's key, saying it was a lot quieter, although they had spent a small fortune double glazing windows on the affected rooms.
Room 7 is very spacious and very well equiped. Its also quiet, having no external walls facing the roadside. All the walls are tumbled brick helping to make it quiet. It has a small kitchenet, and the bathroom is divided into a shower/WC room and a wash room which also has hanging space for your clothes. The air-conditioner/heater was quiet and functioned properly and the whole place was super clean.
The motel is located in the very historic Bakery Hill part of Ballarat and a short stroll will take you past many wonderfull old buildings oozing character. Its also just over the road from MacDonalds and even closer to a really good Hogs Breath restaurant. Although we didnt eat there, there is a traditional pub adjoining the motel that advertises meals.
"Well done" BW Bakery Hill. We're impressed and we'll be back.
