My wife and I have stayed at Cloudlake once a year for the past 4 years or so. It is worth the drive from Sydney to spend time at this delightful rural retreat.
There are two cottages for rent, each with a quite different character—the modern "Boathouse" and the retro "Mother of Ducks". Both provided delightful and well-equiped accommodation. Both overlook the small lake after which the property is named. Relaxing on the deck at anytime of the day is a pleasure. Watching clouds, native birds and the chickens and ducks that wander the property affords simple pleasure. Sitting by the fire in winter and enjoying good wine and food is a joy.
The property is set on both sides of a small valley with remnant rain forest. Walks through the cultivated gardens and the natural forest provide exercise and interest.
The hosts are extremely welcoming and encourage guests to be involved in the activities of their farm. However, they are not intrusive and are happy to leave guests to their own devices.
Recommended for families with children or couples simply wanting to relax and enjoy their own company.
