We went to Cloudlake for our first anniversary, and we came home refreshed, rejuvinated, and wanting to go back!

The cabin was lovely. The kitchen was fully self-contained, with everything you could need, and we enjoyed taking the time to cook ourselves proper meals (no convenience, pre-packaged food for a change!) and the fireplace was a treat! Very reasonable price for such a lovely, homely place to stay.

The property is absolutely gorgeous, with the remnant rainforest and paddocks to wander in. We had lots of fun trying to find the sheep paddocks, then we heard some cows and set out to find them too, all guided by Dudley, the most adorable staffy who led us home when we discovered we'd gotten lost.

The hosts were fantastic, offering us privacy yet letting us know they were there if we needed them. They delivered firewood (very cold because of the elevation) for when we needed a fire during the day, and were very understanding when, two hours down the road on the way home, I realised that I still had the key for the cabin in my handbag.

If I can get over my embarrassment, we will be back next year!

We went to Cloudlake for some time to ourselves after the Christmas madness and we discovered a beautiful hidden valley with the most amazing treats in store for us. Birds singing constantly, a rainforest on the property to walk through (escorted by Dudley, the most amazing dog, who made sure we got home safely). Gardens, a lake with ducks and fish (no...fishing is not allowed), even a campsite next to the cabin to enjoy an open fire while toasting marshmallows and enjoying a glass of red. The final touch was being able to see the amazing display of stars in the sky. We stayed at The Boathouse but there are two cabins on the property. Have a look at some of the photos. The cabin is wonderful and everything you could possibly need is provided. Reading through the guest book simply confirmed our view of this amazing place.
