We were advised by a local that this was the best hotel in town. I'd really hate to see the worst.
Upon arrival, we were advised that the smoking room booked was not possible as the property was now fully non-smoking. (no mention on their website!) We were therefore forced to leave the building to smoke outside and Toowomba is freezing cold at that time of year. We were threatened with a fine of $150 if we smoked in the room and set off the extremely sensitive smoke alarm.
The room was tiny by Australian standards and not very sound proofed. Well into the early hours of the morning, we could hear people talking in the corridor, doors slamming and the lift coming and going.
The windows were covered in a film of grime, obscuring the charming view of the car park and the roofs of other buildings.
Breakfast was ordinary and staff seemed disinterested in replacing empty platters at the buffet.
Insomniac non-smoking dwarves may enjoy staying here.We will definitely go elsewhere next time.
