“Tickets on itself - but trying hard.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011 via mobile

Stayed recently for the first time in ages. A major refurb meant our spa room was nicely finished with a TV screen NASA would envy. Very spacious & clean, with a great layout which accommodated 3 adults with ease, but $219 for a provincial hotel room is a little steep. Still no secure or undercover parking and the hotel's sole lift makes a sloth look speedy. Exceptionally central location & warm, helpful check-in staff. Downstairs bar has all the charm of a Cold War East German border official.

“Well Past its Prime”

In desperate need of a make over and modernisation. The reception area is dark, cavernous and poorly laid out with a large coffe table and sofas seemingly in the way rather that useful. The room was dark, small and the bathroom even smaller. Worse, when I had a shower at 6.30 am the water was tepid. The receptionist said that it was because everyone was showering at the same time. worse, the very small hand basin only had a trickle of cold water - great for shaving!. The receptionist's comment this time was..."oh, really". Needless to say, I skipped breakfast and opted for a nearby coffee shop.

“bad service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2010

The hotel claims itself to be 4 1/2 stars, but it offered so much less.
We booked primarilly for their promise of air-con, for the benefit of our daughter. It broke-down on the second night we were there and they didn't notice the fault themselves, they needed us to point it out. They then did nothing about for over 12 hours. The staff member I spoke to just nodded and ignored us. I spoke to another three people befor ethey told me that the technician wasn't able to come out that day. On asking about getting another room, they finally actually called someone to fix the issue and it wasn't until 8pm that we actually had a room that was bearable.
It is an old hotel that needs a lot of work. It is worth three stars at most and the breakfast buffet is aweful.

“Nice country feel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2010

Nice hotel with a lovely country feel to it rather than the usual trendy wannabe hotels these days. Large hotel for the region and I recommend it. Room was on smaller side but that is the era these hotels were designed. All the rooms have been recently renovated using the classical period fittings etc.

“Quality Accommodation, but VERY small room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2009

We took the "fantastic deal" on an executive room for AUD99 room only from the hotel's website.
Good Points. Very good quality bed, linen, furnishings and toiletries. Right in the centre of town. Had a good night's sleep on a comfortable bed in a quiet room.
Not So Good Points. The room was VERY small and there was nowhere except the floor to put our luggage.
This would be a good room for a sole business traveller as there was a desk, good lighting and a comfy bed. Also suited to a couple who want only one night's accommodation. The other motels in Toowoomba looked to be a class below the B & W and many were located on the edge of town, not near anything else. The restaurant in the bar below serves good wholesome country food and the roast of the day was on special for only around AUD9 - it was tasty with some beautifully dooked vegies.
