“Substandard, the worst place i have ever had the displeasure of staying in!”

I felt compelled to document the repeated failure by this establishment to satisfy my requirements and expectations. Apparently, this is rated a 4 star complex.

1) Sunday afternoon- After checking in I saw a small spider near the bed and decided to capture it and let him go outside (I don’t hate spiders). When I returned, I rolled the entire bed back to check for any more. Under the bed I found a few used tissues, some bottle caps and a children’s toy doll incased in dust and hair. Shocked at this, I picked the doll up by the ear and proceeded to address my concerns with management. I interpreted the surprised look on the man’s face and his apologies as this being an 'isolated incident'. I then ordered a pizza and I settled in for the night.

2) Later Sunday night- To my disgust, there was a huge cockroach running frantically across the floor. I used one of the food containers from my pizza order to trap it. After searching in vein to find an appropriate place to dispose of the rubbish and the captive, I gave up and set it down near the laundry for ‘housekeeping’ to find and dispose of it in the morning.

3) Monday night- I arrived back after work. The bathroom sink was still full of hair from that morning's shave. Though unsettled, I didn’t find it too necessary to alert management.

4) Tuesday night- I came back to find that my room hadn’t been cleaned at all. I went to reception and told the manageress the problem to which she said “you were in there so they couldn’t clean the room”. She then said “next time leave a ‘please make up my room’ sign on the door. I also noted previously that my room’s smoke detector was loosely adhered to the ceiling with sticky tape and the battery compartment was hanging out empty. I then ordered another pizza and tried to settle in.

5) Wednesday night- I got to my room door and remembered my key was in my laptop bag somewhere. As I fumbled through I tried the handle on the door to my surprise it swung open. Not happy about this at all, I made a beeline for reception to let the manager know. She said “are you sure?” to which I replied “yes” and told her that my key was still in my bag somewhere as I hadn’t bothered to find it in my outrage and that their houskeeping wasn't very good. Again I was met with apologies, a ‘rolling of the eyes’ followed by a blank look on her face.

6) Wednesday night later on- I opened the bathroom door to attend to nature and I was greeted with at least 10-15 cockroaches running across the toilet, bath, and hand basin. Most of these cockroaches were about an inch long and some were even bigger. Before they could all disappear under the tiles of the rim of the bath, I threw a damp towel over a cockroach by the toilet. I then went straight to the reception desk. After 5 minutes there was no answer, so I returned to my room to be greeted by two young gentlemen who worked at the hotel. I told them in no uncertain terms that I wasn’t happy here and tonight was ‘the last straw’ for me. Bewildered, they asked me what was wrong. I started by showing them the previous night’s pizza box still sitting there empty, and an empty chip wrapper on the single bed next to mine (I hadn’t said anything to management because I could see they were getting sick of me complaining). I then took the young staff members to the bathroom where the ‘evidence’ was. I asked them if they were scared of cockroaches to which they replied “no not really”. I then asked them to pick up the towel near the toilet and hesitantly one of them lifted the towel and both jumped back when they saw how big the roach was. They then made for the door saying they will clean it. They came back with a third member, a female who proceeded to look in the bathroom. The roach was gone! As she began to spray the Mortein, it came out from behind the toilet system and its size and speed startled her. After a thorough mop and vacuum the trio left very apologetic and I began this report….
I havn't even left here yet. Stuck for one more night. If you're looking for "room mates" in the dark then stay here............
