After reading some of the other reviews on this hotel I wasn't expecting much from the Comfort Resort however we were very pleasently surprised. The rooms are more than sufficient being very clean and hosting a microwave, large fridge, crockery and a washing machine. Our room had a two person spa which was lovely to relax in. But the thing that made our stay outstanding was the beautiful large grass area that fronts right onto the gorgeous beach. With its palm trees and breathtaking views we spent most of our days relaxing, soaking up the views, swimming in the sea and walking on the beach (there are sandy beaches here - not rocky beaches like many other places along the coast). It is quite a fair way out of town but there are a few shops nearby. We would definately go back again if the oppurtunity arose.

the management of this resort are friendly and nice. the penrith unit homes 2 queen size beds and 2 singles. one is a fully self contained unit and ensuite downstairs and the other all upstairs. its a great set up for 2 couples, family travelling. the units have all you need. close to Mackay for all beaches and town etc. The unit is modern, newly upgraded. a nice resort to stay at but watch the mozzies.oh they get crocs on the beach!! there is a lovely grassed and shaded picnic bbq area at the beach, a minute from your unit.

"100% satisfaction guaranteed" and "courtesy bus available"- that's what they advertised, or used to, until we sent a letter of complaint about our experience staying there, then they changed their website and removed these statements. Because of the distance from Mackay we were hesitant to book but they reassured us there was a courtesy bus available between the hours of 8.30 am and 6.30 pm but when we rang reception to book it we were told its only to take you to the airport and back and at their discretion.

Whilst they say the units were fully self contained the level of equipment was minimal. We had to go and borrow a bottle opener, there was no dish cloth to wash up, and not even minimal condiments such as salt and pepper. The unit had two rolls of toilet paper provided if you needed more you had to pay for it. There was a hire fee for beach towels, whereas we have found that most places only charge if you lose them. We were looking forward to a lovely BBQ overlooking the beach but found that they charged for use of the gas and utensils. When we complained about there being a charge to use the BBQ’s we were told that nowhere did they say it was free!!!

Definitely do yourself a favour and give this one a miss.

This very tired resort has a magnificent location, magical gardens and a superb beachfront. The restaurant serves excellent food...

I believe the whole lot should be knocked down and they start again, very tired, very old and outdated, our room smelled of urine.
We arrived late evening, on the surface all seemed okay, tired after a 14 hour drive. Unfortunately the office closed by the time we had walked down to the beach and was still closed when we departed in the morning.
Many of the units are rented for low cost permanent tenants...
Not worth the money and the rave reviews from the reservation centre who obviously have not seen the property.
VERY disapointed...
