Stayed at the Mackay Resort Motel on our way north recently. No booking, just strolled in.
Reception was courteous and helpful. The rooms were nice with the queen bed and the single beds separated by the bathroom. The kids had their own TV. Overall cleanliness was up to standard and the decor and bedding was of a good quality. Wireless broadband was an extra cost. The thing I supposed that bugged me was the price. We've stayed at plenty of places like this for around $40 a night less and as a family on a budget, we would soon be out of money if we paid these prices every night. Like the title says,"nice, but a bit pricey" to me sums it up.

Staying in Mackay I always look for affordability and comfortable rooms. This was the first time I stayed at the Mackay Resort Motel and I have to say I was really impressed. The staff were excellent and the rooms spacious and modern. Two thumbs up for the new furniture and bedding. Highly recommended.

Billed as 4.5 star, the Mackay Resort Motel could not be further from a resort if it tried. Terrible pokey rooms with 80's decor and substandard fittings - my room was half painted with patches all over the wall.

Situated directly on Nebo Road you are unlikely to get any sleep as you are serenaded by trucks racing up and down outside all night.

I stayed for 1 night then packed my bags and left.

Accommodation in Mackay is always hard to find, and you may find yourself here as a last resort. Be warned.

We recently travelled to Mackay for a family function and spent three nights at this motel which is now called the Mackay Resort Motel. It is located on Nebo Road, where the majority of motels are located in Mackay, a couple of kilometres from both the city centre and airport. As we were travelling with children and wanted to self cater we booked a family room which is described as having basic cooking facilities. Our room contained a queen bed, and two single beds separated by a bathroom that contained a vanity, toilet and shower but no bathtub which would have been appreciated especially for bathing children. We also had a small table and three chairs, and the usual kettle, bar fridge and toaster. Although we appreciated the microwave oven which was provided on request, there was no cutlery or crockery in the room apart from coffee mugs and teaspoons, and no sink, hotplate etc. The room was clean, and extra towels were provided on request. Staff were generally very helpful, although a mix up over orders saw some family members waiting for 90 minutes for breakfast one morning during our stay.
