“Servicable Highway Motel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

This place is fine. I stayed there recently for work. It has nothing really to set it apart from the average, but its always a bonus to get a clean, comfortable room when on the road. The weather in Mackay means the air con is a must but I struggled to find a comfortable setting to battle the ever present humidity in the rooom at 2am.
When I visited the motel the restaurant was closed for a makeover so you will need to plan to source breakfast and dinner elsewhere. All in all, nothing wrong with the place but nothing to set it apart either.

Room Tip: The hotel is on the highway so try to get a room up the back away from the road.

“Average rooms, terrible Resturant service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

Rooms are large with a decent mini bar. Decor is becoming a little dated and the couch in our room had stains on it and the curtains are looking very tired. You can't complain about the service in the Resturant because there was barely any, we were lucky to get ONE drink served to us from the bar for the entire meal. On the other hand the eye fillet was great well cooked, priced around $34. Gentleman on reception also lacked the X factor when it came to treating us like guests, we were just another dollar walking in! But hey if you are just passing through Mackay you could probably do worse.

Room Tip: Too close to the front and you will have a lot of road noise. Try rooms in the middle.

“Basic motel room, ok for a stopover.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011 via mobile

Stayed one night, location is fine ( as on the main road into mackay) short drive into town. Rooms are spacious, bed was fine, rooms include basic mini bar and good size tv. Was fine for a stopover, no chance for a sleep in as most people leave early to go to work so reasonably noisy.

“Accommodation is scarce in Mackay book early”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

This motel is not a resort, it is a motel with a pool, gym and restaurant. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean but there is nothing exceptional about the motel. Because mine people stay here be prepared to be woken up early with motors running, people talking and smoking and banging doors. It is too far to walk into town (about 25 mins) to eat or shop. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night, the food was very good but also very expensive. The reception and restaurant staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful. Although this motel is clean and comfortable I would not recommend it except for an overnight stay.

“We would never go back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

We stayed here for one night. There was a loud transformer hum outside our room which finally shut down at midnight. The next door room decided to take a shower about 3.30AM which woke us because the plumbing was so noisy. Then another shower about 5am. It was expensive - AUD195 for a one room unit- kitchen and 4 beds all together. We complained to the management the next morning - they really didn't care !!

Room Tip: Don't stay here !!
