Took the family on an impromptu getaway over the Xmas period - this "resort" was one of only a small handful with availability, which is why we stayed there - never again tho! The noise was unbearable & the rooms were sub-standard: worn carpet, moldy bathroom, dusty (definitely unwashed) bedspreads. On the first night - hubby & I could barely sleep - the room was so stuffy, even with air-con cranked to the max. After many hours of no sleep due to not being able to breathe as a result of it being so stuffy, I reluctantly took the bed cover & attempted a make shift bed in the lounge area - BIG mistake, lounge & linen were so dusty it brought on an asthma attack! Next morning I rang reception to advise of our displeasure & requested a higher room (we were on 1st level) so that at least we could leave balcony door slightly ajar to allow fresh air flow - was advised this was not possible (fully booked - understandable during peak season) - I then went on to describe our huge dilemma & lack of sleep. Receptionist could not have been less helpful or sympathetic, simply told us that she would not refund the remainder of stay should we decide to vacate early & then went on to RECOMMEND that we leave our doors open if we found the lack of airflow unpleasant - my response that we certainly would not do that due to the close proximity to the ground AND pointed out that there were many signs in the room advising NOT to keep doors open. Would have loved to have witnessed the response should something untoward happened (burglary etc) as a result of THEIR advice! Long story short, we went to store & purchased fans to assist with airflow. Bottom line - don't stay here unless you expect sub-standard accommodation.

The Breakfree Neptune is a good place to stay in the Gold Coast on a budget. Its location is FANTASTIC! I highly recommend staying here if you are on a budget and after location, however I do not recommend staying here you plan on cooking in the apartment. My partner and I decided on staying in a apartment rather than a hotel for the sole reason that we wanted to save some money and cook our own food. However when we arrived reception told us they have VERY sensitive smoke alarms and advice was plastered all over the apartment! The idea of cooking was thrown out the window once we realized it is a $1000 fine if the alarm is triggered. I was too scared to even straighten my hair!!
The decor is pretty dated but it is clean and for us we were out most of the time so it didnt matter.

All in all, we were reasonably happy with our stay at the Neptune. We would stay there again, but would have to budget for dining out.

From 16-19 December,2011 myself and my wife had accommodation in a one bed apartment which we had chosen from several places including Sunlover Holidays and their own web site which described the premises as clean comfortable apartments with beach or hinterland views.
We were placed in a ground floor unit of which the only view was a brick wall and hedge located with a main view of the intersection of the highwayabout 15-20 feet from our door.
As a result to be able to sleep and reduce the continual traffic noise we were forced to keep the doors closed at all times and as a result no fresh air was allowed into the unit. We had to rely on an air conditioning unit which also made excessive noise which made it difficult to sleep.
Due to the weather during our stay this made the apartment verry stuffy and uncomfortable and unhealthy. The balcony had some cleaning issues including several cigarrette butts,a box of empty liquor cans and bottles left by previous guests and a general dirty appearance.We were extremely disappointed and regretted having chosen the building and completely spoilt our weekend on the Gold Coast. I also do not agree with the four star rating and could not recommend the premises to my friends.and associates.

This property is nothing like the photos on the website. Ladies on reception were friendly and helpful. We were given an apartment on the 1st floor. I was very disappointed with the apartment. It was very dated and also dirty. For a 10 days stay the apartment had 2 bath towels, a hand towel, bath mat, and one tea towel. The dated carpet and furniture was stained.
I have stayed on the gold coast several times before and have never been diappointed with our accomodation. Our view avoid this place at all cost. A back packers would be better.
