I've not yet found accommodation in Orange that I'd say was great. I stayed just one night. The rate I was given over the phone was cheaper than wotif or last minute. The hotel seems new. It's fairly soul-less but no more than any other Orange motel. The rooms are very large. Mine had a queen and a single, about 5 metres from each other and in quite separate parts of the room. The lighting was excellent. . It was decorated with Chinese style highly varnished timbers - a bit upsetting and the furniture didn't match the outside style of the building. Thick carpet and quiet inside.. I went to this motel because the one I stayed at the night before was not to my taste. The location of the Ambassador is about 2 kms out of town. Their are no amenities within walking distance, except hardware shops, big furniture shops and greasy food outlets. The service was friendly. I asked to swap rooms when I arrived and there was no problem. The restaurant has a great, creative menu but unfortunately I didn't get to try it. Oddities: a microwave but no plates or cutlery except for tea spoons. I probably wouldn't stay here again but that is only because I am going to keep looking until I find somewhere I really like in Orange. Or a single night passing through on a longer trip. Parking is easy. Two levels. Opening front windows. Downstairs is a bit darker and not so private. Wireless internet for a fee- connection seemed very slow but quiet
