“Bad service, rude managers”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

The non smoking room stank of smoke. The bedlinen, the pillows all stank of smoke.
The hand basin in the bathroom was badly cracked, and judging from the mould in the cracks had been for some time.
On day two of our stay the card key did not work to allow us entry after hours. Reception closes at 9.30pm. There are no signs advising what to do. I rang the hotel and the message directs you to press 2 for urgent matters. That went unanswered twice. There was a wedding being held in the function room, but the two staff had only worked there 2-3 times and had not been trained to use the key system. We had to wait to 11.30 pm outside in the cold until the night manager was due to arrive to collect the cash. No apologies, just an excuse that he had been in Sydney.
When we reported this to the day manager, she stated: "I, heard about that. What's your problem, you got in."
We have no idea how this hotel possibly got 4 stars.

“Great quality motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

Stayed here for work. Motel looks impressive from the road. Must be one of the newer ones built in town. Room was very spacious and clean with quality furniture and soft furnishings. Breakfast was great , as was the use of the gym. Agree with other reviewer, wifi should be free nowdays for business travellers.
Had a nice meal in the restaurant, seemed to be popular with our business reps.
Host was very welcoming on arrival and departure. Would defintely stay here again, although need to book early, Orange is very hard to get accommodation during week days.

“A good rest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

We stayed here for two nights and overall was impressed. The place is clean, the beds comfortable and the gym great. The breakfast was nice but the dinner was not up to scratch for the amount of money they charged. Overall a good rest. Lastly, Wifi needs to be free, charging for this is bit silly.

“Large Rooms - modern clean motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2011

This 2 night stay was for 3 gents - all over 50 so a bit of extra space is good. We booked a family room that had a queen bed in the main room and a separate room with 3 single beds of which only 2 had electric blankets for some reason.

The room was large with nice furniture but as another review has mentioned, some plates and cutlery would have been nice as a microwave was available but having to eat out of plastic containers with plastic forks was annoying. In a cold climate, staying inside and having take away in front of the TV is very relaxing after being out all day.

The single air-conditioner worked well but there was a big difference in the unheated second bedroom. The main room had to be over heated to make the second room acceptable. Probably the reverse in summer too! The room key card also worked all the facilities in the room but it was annoying to have to plunge everything into darkness while you made trips to unpack etc as the card was needed each time to open the front door. Tip: ask for extra key card on arrival.

For 3 or 4 people, their was only one sofa so at least 2 others had to sit on hard dining table chairs or the floor to watch TV. The bathroom needs a heat light as it did get very cold overnight in the near freezing temperatures.

I didn't use the motel internet service but those with their own Optus wireless broadband plug in devices will find there is no useable signal here. Come on Optus, it's a large town!

Also mentioned by others was that the motel is 2km to the eastern edge of town. We walked into town one night for a meal and it took 50 mins each way. Not much good if you don't have private transport.

The room was quiet with no highway noise at all. Beds were comfortable but all the staff did when servicing the room was pull the bed clothes up - leaving untucked sheets underneath the blanket at the foot of the bed. I do expect the bed to be properly made up if rooms are serviced daily. Also a fresh roll of toilet paper was not supplied so we were very close to having to ask for another as there was no spare we could see in the bathroom either night.

We were going to use the motel restaurant for an evening meal but the prices were high so we went elsewhere. Our tariff included a continental breakfast buffet that was excellent as it included fruit, cerals, breads, juices, tea & coffee. This was very good.
When we checked out, the receptionist just charged our credit card and printed the receipt without much conversation or any enquiry how our stay was. While we would have given a favourable response, this is seen as a lost opportunity to see what your customers felt about their stay and leave a good feel as you depart.
I would stay here again but hope this review assists the hotel management to fine tune a couple of matters that would have allowed slightly higher ratings.

Room Tip: Ask for a second entry card on arrival

“A clean and friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

We had a very good experience at this hotel - rooms big, light and clean and well-furnished (though lacking in cups, plates, cutlery, perhaps); beds quite comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and willing to go the extra mile. It's a short drive (10 minutes) from the centre of town which made it pretty handy. Overall, everyone in our party was pleased with the accommodation. If you have time, go to Lolli Redini fine dining restaurant in town - the food is incredible!
