“OK hotel, below average location, neck-killing pillows”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

Location is really below average, boring place, nothing to see or do and nowhere to eat out!! First of all, to get to any decent vinyard, you will need to drive at least about 30 kms. We only spent 2 days there and were bored out of our minds. On one day we've been driving from one wineyard to another for 4 hours, as most places either didn't serve food or were 'over booked'. At one place at 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon (!!!!) we've been told "Well, I don't know where you'll be able to get a meal at this time of the day"!!!

On the positive side, hotel is clean, rooms are fairly spacious, plenty of parking. But it looks more like a business-type hotel, definitely not a romantic place, and not a family destination.

Now, the pillows on beds - I could barely move my neck after sleeping on it for 2 days. So bring your own pillow.

“A great place to stay for exploring Hunter Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2010

My wife and I always stayed here whenever we want to go to Hunter Valley. It's inexpensive (compared to the other overpriced and overrated hotels in Pokolbin) and not too far from our favorite restaurant, Mojo's On Wilderness in Lovedale.
The rooms are clean, the staff are professional, free parking, quiet, air conditioning, it's a great place to stay for exploring Hunter Valley.
Don't waste your money on Pokolbin accommodations, stay here instead.. seriously

“Home away from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2009

Welcoming, clean, spacious (I stayed in one bedroom apartment). Free parking! 1 minute walk to main mall. Good selection of restaurants. Very accommodating.
30 minutes drive into the heart of the Hunter wine region though Maitland and the little town of Morpeth held my interest at the weekends. Amazing little art gallery - impressive!

Take a room away from road if you're an insomniac!

“Clean and Comfortable”

excellent apartments, clean and comfortable - good service - as someone here has mentioned - the pub noise can be loud if you get a room with a balcony near the front of building. (pub noise didnt worry me too much) I would certainly stay here again.

“Nice rooms, shame about the noise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2008

Nice clean and modern apartments, with very helpful and friendly staff.... Unfortunatly let down by noise at night. The property's location is between the pubs and main night club in town (Hunter Valley Brewery). So as well as the thumping bass till 4am (on the Saturday night we stayed), you have a constant stream of drunk groups screaming right outside the windows.
The staff were kind enough to call across ot the club on the Sunday night at 10pm and ask them to close their main doors (they leave them open letting the noise escape too easily) which made a difference.

Note: There is no servicing of rooms on Sundays

Located walking distance to the high street, although most will be using it as a base for other region highlights, and the Maitland town centre is not really touristy.
