“Clean but tiny rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

When we booked 2 nights here it sounded like a bit of luxury - a 4 star hotel in the mountains. However as lovely as the hosts were, the room we had was tiny. Only just enough space for our luggage and space to walk around one side of the bed (the bed was against a wall) and it was dated. There was a very small walk-through where the kettle etc was in a cupboard, however even though we stayed a couple of nights and we used the cups, we weren't given clean cups and the supplies weren't replenished. The bathroom was also tiny - with no loo roll so we had to go back to reception to get some. Shower was small and the window looked out over the paths and picnic area outside, the glass wasn't frosted so you had to close the curtains whenever you went in there! The selection for breakfast was quite poor - small choice of cereals, toast, the fruit came straight out of tins and the "continental" part was (small) slices of cheese and ham on a plate. Perhaps they would also benefit from hiring someone to clear the tables up at breakfast because the poor chap couldn't keep up with serving the tea and coffee as well as tidying the tables to make room for the other customers! Location was lovely in the mountains and the facilities were nice - we used the pool, jacuzzi and tennis court. Considering the amount we paid we were quite disappointed. Wouldn't stay there again.

The room this couple booked is advertised as a "Small 3* Lodge room". It is the lowest priced room at Chalet Swisse Spa, and during the peak season there is a peak season surcharge.
We have to point out that each and every guest has the option to cancel a booking if they are not satisfied with anything at Chalet Swisse Spa. We also offer guests the option to upgrade at a nominal extra charge. In the room compendium is a section that says that if guests wish a room service then the room service request tag should be put on the outside of the door.
Yes, the bed room is small (2.4m x 2.5m) and the bathroom is 3 metres by 1,8 metres and the shower is regular 900 x 900 size. We consider a choice of 5 cereals, fruit salad, prunes, yoghurt, selection of fresh fruit in a basket, variety of juices, variety of 5 types of breads and toasts, unlimited freshly brewed coffee or decaf and a variety of teas served to the tables, as well as a platter of salami or ham, cheese, tomato and gherkins - as quite reasonable. The real definition of a continental breakfast could be a bread-roll & coffee & just cereal.- what we offer for breakfast is unlimited and of good quality.
A variety of hot breakfasts is available at a cost of $ 15p.p.
Breakfast is served on the ocean view cafe verandah with wonderful views and lots of birds chirping away.

“Something different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed 3 nights and loved the beautiful tranquil setting in the rainforest with views from our balcony to the beach (lovely garden and pond). Walking to the car in the morning seen a Kangaroo with 2 joeys, lots of kookaburras and birds. Room was spotless and hosts very friendly and knowledgable about the area. Having been to many hotels in Europe found this an authentic piece of Europe in a magnificent Australian setting. I'm someone who suffers from bad insomnia and slept like a baby every night!

“Chalet Swisse Spa a work of art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My wife and I and our two boys recently stayed at the chalet staying for two nights. Firstly, we were very impressed with the service and hospitality of Elisabeth and Herbert. This is one aspect which sets the chalet apart from other places, the service is genuine and exceptional. Secondly, the chalet itself is a piece of art, if you truly want to experience a piece of Europe, although in a rain forrest, this is the place to visit. The chalet is only ten minutes from the beach. Our boys enjoyed the tennis court and walking tracks in the forrest. My wife and I enjoyed the piece and tranquility of the surrounding forrest. We intend returning again next year and highly recommend the chalet to anyone young or old. We would like to congratulate Herbert and Elisabeth for creating such a beautiful and authentic European paradise.

“A Simply Delightful & Peaceful Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My wife and I found this delightful resort after an intensive search of the Net. A number of the places listed for the Batemans Bay area seemed to our taste to be glitzy, ultra modern and situated along a noisy, busy, beach front road. We were looking for the impossible: a resort that had peace and quiet, relaxation, homeliness and old world charm, yet near a surf beach, interesting restaurants and the Batemans Bay shopping centre. To our delight we found what were looking for: Chalet Swisse Spa Surf Beach Retreat.

We arrived exhausted and stressed. After a three day stay we left feeling wonderfully refreshed and spiritually renewed. If you are looking for the perfect place to chill out Chalet Swisse Spa has it ALL.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by our charming hosts Herbert and Elizabeth. The Chalet Swisse Spa is their very own creation and passion. They called it ‘A little bit of Europe’.

We were greeted warmly and shown to our deluxe room on the second floor. The room overlooked the garden and had spectacular views of the hills and mountain views beyond. The bathroom was spacious and our room had all the modern cons you would expect in a four star hotel.

The resort’s services and attractions are too numerous to mention. However we feel obliged to list just a few:

While the hosts are friendly, your privacy is important to them. Our room was serviced only on our request if made before 11am. We particularly enjoyed this feature as we did not wish to be disturbed.

The resort is situated on a mountain ridge with panoramic views of Surf Beach. It provides the best of both worlds as it is set in a peaceful native Australian bushland setting and has close proximity to the surf. A long winding drive through the resorts gates takes you up to the Chalet that is surrounded by a beautiful garden with fountain.

The complex was built by European tradesman and has many fine features. This includes a beautifully crafted wooden staircase, and old European style polished wooden furniture. A separate building available for functions has large wall murals of 18th century Europe. The Chalet is immaculate and has beautiful furnishing and art effects.

We really enjoyed our sojourn at the Chalet Swisse Spa and we were very reluctant to return to the reality of a busy life. We will definitely go back to that ‘little bit of Europe’.

“Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Both the owners were very hospitable and accommodating, There are beautiful views and the hotel is well resourced. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but wished it could have been longer.
Will definitely be going back in the near future.
