I stayed at the York for 2 weeks for work, I loved the property - great location.

I found the staff to be very pleasant and extremely accommodating with my needs.

My room was a studio, it was large and spacious, a very roomy bedroom with a kitchenette. The king bed was one of the best beds that I have ever slept on - i had to ask the girls in reception were it came from.

The York is in a fabulous location - great restaurants, bars at your door step.

i was shocked with some of the reviews, as i found the York to be one of the best hotels that i have stayed in and my colleagues and i would highly recommend it to all our friends.

The units are compact but provide all amenities you would expect. As previously reported, the beds ar hard, but not to the point of being uncomfortable, for us at least. We were distured by the noise though. It may have been the parking area's roller doors - we couldn't find the source. The units are not sound proof either, and the plumbing in adjacent units was audible, as were conversations in the hallway, and people's comings and goings. Never saw the management as we paid online. The office hours were limited. The surrounding area is good for restaurants, and the York is conveniently located. I can recommend the units for their cleanliness, facilities and location, but the noise will be the reason i don't go there again.

Stayed for three nights in a Deluxe apartment. The advertise themselves as luxury apartments. I didn't think it was either deluxe or luxurious.
It's an old building which has been renovated on the outside. Inside it was old but comfortable, a little drab and was a comfortable three star, not four. Needs an update.
The bed was comfortable as was the sofas. Kitchen OK, exhaust fan/light didn't work.
Was serviced OK and was clean.
THE NOISE - I must admit I thought it was close to the shops which might be convenient, but the noise was terrible. Bus stops, restaurants across the road meant road noise and groups of people - loud talking etc until 5-6 am. Sounded like they were iin the room with us. Badly needs sound proofing. Though we did have a front room, at the rear would be better. If you can sleep with noise - good for you, we found it terrible. Had to get up at 3 am to have a cup of tea as couldn't sleep due to the noise.
Compared to say the Manuka shops these shops were also old and drab.
Had underground secure parking which was good - Bad was the three flights of stairs to get our luggage to the room.
If you have a lot or heavy luggage three flights, no lift or offer of help will be a bit for some.
Overall an old but comfortable room, NOISY, not deluxe or luxurious as desribed.

Seriously, The York Apartments has the best bed I have EVER slept on. I stayed in the studio bedroom which was very roomy, had a great big bathroom and even had a kitchenette, but since the apartments are located in central Kingston, you probably won't have time to cook! There are plenty of restaurants/bars and even a supermarket. It's also around the corner from the Kingston Markets and the Glassworks which was great to visit over the course of the weekend.
